An interesting website that I have found. I'm sure it sounds a bit silly but sometimes the small things can make a big difference.
In my class every Friday, we dismiss in an unusual way. Normally the kids just roll on out, but on Fridays, they get to make a request. They can request a hug, handshake or a bonk on the head. I know it is only anecdotal but I do marvel at is how the requests change from week to week. People really do just need a hug out of the blue.

Yeah, I haven't hugged anyone for about a year or more - probably 5 years if you don't count family. I have very little physical contact with people and I often feel the need for a hug but the girls round my way are ugly as sin so I choose to avoid it.
