  • iPhone takes arrow intended for owner in Australian attack

Clearly Australia needs better Bow and Arrow control laws...
I guess it’s funny to joke about thousands of senseless deaths? 39,773 gun deaths in USA in 2017. That’s 4.54 people, every hour of every day of the year. I’m embarrassed for you.

  • iOS 18.1 to let users change or delete iCloud.com primary email addresses

The inability to merge two accounts goes against everything Apple is suppose to stand for! I ended up with two accounts because, despite Steve Jobs explicitly saying it would be free for life, they started charging. I jumped ship to Gmail, only to return when it became free again. Since then I’ve been stuck with two accounts! First world problems I know, it’s just feels so much like an issue you’d hear from a Microsoft user!

    Do better Apple!

  • Apple all-in on struggling Matter, to the detriment of HomeKit Accessory Protocol

Is there a reason Google, Amazon and Apple haven’t adopted the latest standard? It’s can’t be budgetary!

There is simply no trust for smart home devices.  No thanks.
    That’s very simplistic

  • GM's CarPlay replacement doesn't work well, and has a long road ahead of it

I appreciate GM taking themselves out of consideration for my next vehicle.
Couldn’t agree more. CarPlay is the most important safety and convenience feature I have seen in a car in my lifetime. I, and others I know, have gone from being a distracted driver to never needing to take eyes off the road. I could make an argument that Apple should disable most phone functionality by default when connected to a car. At least until we have true autonomy in cars. In my opinion, infotainment systems should also be considered when cars are given safety ratings.

  • Development of Apple's first Australian flagship store hamstrung by heritage protection or...

I live in Melbourne and I have know idea what they are talking about! Heritage Victoria? Federation Square was only built 20 years ago! It was overpriced and I think a massive waste of money. Apples store can only improve this area. It’ll give me a reason to go there! I wouldn’t be surprised if Our City, Our Square was being funded by $am$ung.

  • Future of Apple Pay could be digital keys for rental cars, says Apple Pay executive

    Well that’s just wonderful. 😐
Last month I uninstalled my Wallet app because it was just taking up space. Only one of my cards even was compatible with it. When I tried to use it only one out of four stores recognized it, and that one was the local Apple dealer so I suppose they kinda had to. So if a car rental place tries to give me a virtual token for my wallet app, I’ll pass. Same with a room key. (For the record I almost never see anyone paying with their watch or phone. Here in Southern British Columbia near Vancouver, it’s practically all chip card.)
Apple wallet works great. Most of my credit cards are stored there and no reason to carry them around since I pay using my iPhone. In addition, Apple Wallet stores my tickets to athletic events, parking passes, movie theater tickets, my AAA membership, American Red Cross donor card and many reward cards. I can't imagine not having and using Apple Wallet.
I literally can’t remember the last time I took my wallet out to pay for anything! I frequently leave my wallet at home and plan to install a secured box in my new car (that I’ll be able to access with Apple Key) to store my wallet just in case.

  • Sleep apnea in, hypertension out for Apple Watch Series 10

You guys need to be mindful that the blood oxygen feature is only disabled in the USA. It works everywhere else in the world, and Apple Watches are being sold with the feature today.
Thank you! This article is just another example of the US media forgetting the rest of the planet exists!

Now has it actually been removed from new watches or just disabled for USA? I doubt AppleInsider will be finding out before or after the launch!

  • Thinner, smarter, more connected: What to expect from a 2025 Apple TV

    dewme said:
I’m definitely ready to replace my one AppleTV HD with a newer version beyond the latest 4K that I have on a different TV. Apple TVs have always been super stable and reliable for me.

My “dream” Apple TV would be in a soundbar form factor with sound, camera, and microphone. This may be too far away from the current Apple TV so it would have to be a different model.

It’s more likely the next update will be a spec upgrade that’s smaller, better, and faster with more storage. Is it too early to consider 8K support? Integration with HomeKit and Matter security cameras with some onboard storage to capture live video from the cameras.

These are all big asks so I’m preparing myself for spec bumps.

I was hoping at least native camera support for video conferencing but things could get interesting using the Face ID tech for gaming too!
