  • Truck thief gunned down by owner after AirTag gives away location

    lkrupp said:
Texans love their trucks, but a truck isn’t worth throwing your life away for.  That goes for both the thief and the owner.  Better to give the police the location and let them deal with it.  Goes without saying, I suppose.
Yeah, the meek shall inherit the Earth, right? Be a scared little vole and hand over your keys, your wallet, your daughter if demanded, right? There's a reason some states have Castle Doctrines, Stand Your Ground Laws, and Concealed Carry Laws. "Oh please, Mr. Thug, don't hurt me"

As for the police? Gimme a break. They have bigger fish to fry than a stolen truck.
None of those laws you mentioned allow a person to follow a thief, confront them somewhere other than your own property, and shoot them. Even stand your ground laws don’t allow you to instigate a confrontation, and it certainly doesn't indemnify you if you shoot someone as a result of that confrontation.  All of those laws exist for self-defense, which is really hard to argue when you’re the one who sought out the violence.  I'm not disagreeing with the guy who's vehicle was stolen, and the theif arguably got what he deserved, but that's not justice, it's vigilantism, which in the US is quite illegal.

  • Apple Card review 2022: Great for Apple buys, lacking everywhere else

This is terrible card. The crap benefits of this Carter second only to the Home Depot card, which has literally zero benefits, except for a longer return policy.  3% on Apple purchases from an Apple store is crap. It’s cheaper for me to buy stuff on Amazon and get 5% back on my prime card and that 3% is the only benefit that you get, since this card is garbage everywhere else. You’d think they could match their competition at least go to 5% of their own store, but damn!

  • Apple uses Towson store as a warning against store unions

Basically the unions benefit the worst employees and hurt the best ones. Sorry, but you guys got what you wanted. Enjoy the union!

  • 802.11ay Wi-Fi rumored for 'iPhone 12,' wireless charging for 'AirTag'

Please give us AirTags already! I've been holding off on buying tile waiting for this. I keep losing stuff in the meanwhile!

  • Apple accused of retribution in firing five union activists

This person was fired for breaking the rules, and showing up late to work. Whether that had anything to do with her being part of the union or not, doesn’t really matter because she broke the rules and got fired for it. If she hadn’t been part of the union effort and got fired for the same thing, no one would complain, and somehow we are to believe that just because someone is involved with a unionization effort they can do whatever the hell they want and not get fired, because anything else will be construed as retaliation. These union pushers should be model employees, not just barely showing up to work on time. whether the firing is retaliation or not, doesn’t really matter, because she gave them a legit reason to fire her, and so they did.
