  • Editorial: How AirPods and Shortcuts shifted Apple's Siri story and blunted Amazon's Alexa...

    Are you kidding me?!?

Siri is dead last when it comes to usefulness (and accuracy) in voice assistants.

Thanks for a FUD piece of journalism.

  • $179 Apple TV 4K boasts high dynamic range support, free 4K upgrades to iTunes movie purch...

$180 is double what the competition is charging and 20% more than the last generation of Apple TV.

So, that HD->4K "free" upgrade really isn't free. Eddy baked the cost of the 4K content upgrade into the price of the unit.

  • Overcast developer nixes standalone podcasts on Apple Watch, citing watchOS 4 changes

And, that's why app developers are pulling out of Apple Watch (Amazon and eBay to name a few). Every major watchOS update basically redesigns the way the watch works via aggressive API updates. It costs developers way more to support the watch than what they are seeing back in return.

  • Apple sacks iPhone X engineer after daughter posts hands-on video to YouTube

Why is no one asking "How did she unlock the phone?" It's an employee phone, it is locked with facial recognition and a passcode. In order to use the phone she would need dad to use his face or give her the lock passcode. Dad knew this was going on. That is why he was fired.

  • Editorial: Steve Jobs would have been proud of Tim Cook's Apple News & Apple TV event

The fact that this opinion piece exists means that the fanboy base is worried.

    They should be.

  • Disney+ accounts hack highlights need for more password security

    Yeah, a non-story story.

    Disney wasn't hacked.

10 million subscribers in 24 hours (a number Apple wishes they had). Account problems are to be expected. It's the human condition.

Small percentage of people use the same email and passwords for all of their accounts. If they've been compromised elsewhere, then try it with new Disney service. Account hacked. Not really rocket science.

And I'm sure some idiots used M1ckeyM0use or Frozen2 as their passwords word too.

  • Apple shifts iOS 14 development strategy to cut buggy releases

    marktime said:
That’s ridiculous. Unfinished code or known buggy code should never be checked into the daily build. That’s software development 101. Something is seriously out of control if developers have been checking stuff in prematurely.
This is happens when people with no engineering background become the senior management at a tech company. At least Jobs was familiar with the challenges of engineering hardware / software. Cook is a process guy (how to build / distribute things) and not really familiar with engineering. He wouldn't know a resistor if you threw one at him.

The fact that things got to this point at the biggest tech company in the world is staggeringly alarming. Tim, less streaming and more engineering, eh?

  • USB 3.2 standard promises 20Gbps speeds over existing Type-C cables

Think of what an A11 processor in an iPhone could do if able to be connected to peripherals such as a keyboard and large screen.  Plus, it would provide better compatibility with Macs...
Um, what part of "Apple makes tons of money by licensing their proprietary connector" don't you get? They like it that way.

  • Review: Amazon Echo Show is 'good enough'

Apple has already opened up Siri to 3rd-paries that offering a HomePod App Store will not be an issue and I'm sure they'll surpass Amazon almost instantly with better IDE for developers.
But, Siri isn't really that open. The API is very restrictive and only supports certain classes of apps. Furthermore, the support is iOS only. So far, there is no word on HomePod (what a God awful name) supporting Siri expansion. I'm guessing that's about a year away which makes it about 2 years too late.

  • Apple increases orders for iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro

Can I call this guy and idiot or is it against the rules? Could someone please let me know.

Being tech savvy is a mindset, it is not an age delimiter. I'm in my early 30's and I had tons of friends who are clueless about technology and literally just believe everything they hear or told. Which makes them even more clueless and embarrassing when they open their mouth.

Amen! I had a 75 year old father who loved (and used) Spotify and asked for (and got) Apple AirPods for Father's Day. Also, he could pick off guys in Sniper Elite 3 for the Xbox like nobody's business. Shame he's gone. He would have bought that iPhone 11 Pro for the 3 lens in a heartbeat (Dad was also an amateur photog).

People who make age bias statements like that are idiots.
