 Apple switching to usb c this year allows them to lock in a year of higher transfer speeds for pro devices and then it will likely trickle down to the cheaper devices next year. 

For me I'd never buy a Samsung phone fact is with apple they have a very cohesive ecosystem and work diligently to keep you within said ecosystem, but I can respect other brands because without another Titan or two then the smartphone landscape would be utterly boring. I will take some folded optics or whatever for the next iPhone for some of that significantly better zooming possibilities though.
