Apple Watch outsold all of the Swiss watch industry by sales volume in 2019

Mysterious overnight activity at Apple stores presages Thursday's Mac event
Purchase a clue. Steve Jobs passed. Henry Ford passed. Henry Morrison Flagler passed. Commodore Vanderbilt passed. John Rockefeller passed. Andre Carnegie passed. John Ringling passed. The list is long. When the visionary dies, the essence that made the true greatness almost always goes. Steve ain't coming back so deal with what you've got, which are still some pretty great products if not as great as those of old. Of course you could always start your own path of greatness. Barring that, sit down in the back of the class, your head is too big for many to see around. -

Former Apple retail head Angela Ahrendts upset 'finely tuned balance'
lkrupp said:Oh here we go again. Apple is the ONLY, repeat, ONLY tech company where a customer can walk into their store and get service on their devices, get questions answered, make purchases and this thread has already been hijacked by the perpetually bitching crowd that hammers away at anything Apple. Fire Cook, fire Ahrendts, fire Federighi, fire Schiller, fire ‘em all!
1. When very crowded, my local store had a stale air smell in it (better ventilation system?).
2. -- Poorly trained staff: "Ask five people -- get five different answers-- An emphasis on sales over service-- Being pushed to make online appointments for service -- which the Apple store essentially ignored (You got treated the same whether you had an appointment or just walked in)iPhone a month or so ago. Waiting for someone to serve us.
3. Spent 25 minutes with a friend trying to buy
4. Apple stores used to be a fun destination/experience - I hope it returns to that with the new VP!
5. My belief is that Steve would have never allowed AA within a 100 yards of an Apple employment line.
6. I agree with the majority here, and have been carping on this for years here.
What a load of unadulterated bullshit. What must it be like to go through life bitching about everything, never satisfied, always disappointed, always negative and throwing shade on everything and everybody.

Apple hourly workers feel helpless under punishing pressure & mistreatment
To me this started with the much hyped, overpaid, angela ahrendts. One used to get the exclusive attention of the genius during an appointment, now you are in a cluster where you share the attention of the expert. If you had apple care, the person helping you seemed to have wide latitude to address your problem even replacing the item outside the expiration date by a week or two. This shopping appointment approach is foolish though i cannot lay that bit of stupidity at her feet. What on earth does burberry have to do with apple? Burberry isn’t as successful as Louis Vuitton. It was always a second tier ‘luxury’ brand. Bottom line apple isn’t what apple used to be and that is no compliment. Kudos to those employees with whom I have interacted with that were pleasant, professional and thorough. Only once did I have to upbraid a snotty jackass that now you tell me makes $13/hour. With that he couldn’t avoid the merchandise he hawks. -
Apple's latest iOS 9.3 update 'bricks' some older iPads, making them unusable
idamann said:The last iOS update left my iPad 2 a brick. Took it to the apple store and techs said nothing could be done. Complained to apple and to the BBB about apple. Here is Apple's verbatim response:

7.3 TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE iOS SOFTWARE AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, AND APPLE AND APPLE'S LICENSORS (COLLECTIVELY REFERRED TO AS "APPLE" FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTIONS 7 AND 8) HEREBY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS WITH RESPECT TO THE iOS SOFTWARE AND SERVICES, EITHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND/OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT OF THIRD PARTY RIGHTS.

INSTALLATION OF THIS iOS SOFTWARE MAY AFFECT THE AVAILABILITY AND USABILITY OF THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE, APPLICATIONS OR THIRD PARTY SERVICES, AS WELL AS APPLE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES."
We appreciate the customer providing Apple feedback regarding the iPad and iOS Software Update. Please be assured that Apple considers all of our customers' concerns to be important.
As part of the iOS 9 software installation process, the customer is presented with the option to review, and must agree to, the aforementioned software license agreement before the download and installation of the software can proceed.
Apple records confirm the customer purchased the iPad 2 on July 12, 2011, and it was covered by the Apple One (1) Year Limited Warranty - iOS. Prior to submitting the letter to the Better Business Bureau, the customer visited the Apple Retail Store regarding an issue with updating the software on the iPad. The store determined the iPad required hardware service. The iPad was approximately forty-one months beyond the "Warranty Period". As such, the store offered out-of-warranty service, however, the customer declined.
THE LAST STATEMENT IS UNTRUE. THE STORE OFFERED NO OUT-OF-WARRANTY SERVICE AS THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE -EXCEPT BUY A NEW iPAD. PERHAPS THAT IS WHAT THEY MEAN BY "SERVICE" -
Days after Apple Watch's $50 price cut, competitor Pebble lays off 25% of staff
oakie said:if Eric Migicovsky is seriously confused as to why Silicon Valley investors are no longer investing in him, let's lay out the facts: he began over 4 years ago on kickstarter, preselling a metric buttload of their $99 "Classic" for $140 and up, claiming they would retail for $200+. instead of shipping these kickstarter presales, he diverted the majority to fulfilling a Best Buy order that occurred once they saw the popularity. even worse, they were then being sold at retail for $150. hilarity ensues amongst kickstarter "backers." after 2 years, entries from Samsung and other Android manufacturers convinced him to make a metal one, a round one, a metal round one and a "premium" one. despite having had a hand in making Blackberry's failed smartwatch many moons ago, a 2 year head start on the Android market alone, promotion from every tech oriented website on earth and nearly 5 years after launching their original kickstarter presale, Eric Migicovsky has failed to create enough profit to make the business self-sustaining. where have the profits gone? don't say "invested in new products" when your every model was launched using funds from kickstarter presales. gee, i wonder why investors aren't clamoring to send money his way? -
Some users complain about poor phone call sound on Apple's iPhone 7 & 7 Plus
howie_isaacks said:Here's an out there idea... Why not call AppleCare instead of complaining to a blog? I know that's such a hard concept to comprehend, but maybe these people should try that first. The sound quality on my iPhone 7 is awesome. I have no complaints, and if I did, I would contact Apple about it first.
