Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple's 'sweetheart deal' with TSMC is no such thing
blastdoor said:I wonder if apple’s interest in 3nm is driven more by future products like Vision Pro than by iPhone. The iPhone could probably rest on its 5nm laurels for a couple of years. But without the volume of iPhone sales, 3nm couldn’t get off the ground. So iPhone sales fund 3nm development, but it will be Vision Pro that really benefits most

Samsung has the smartphone sales top spot, but not because of AI or Apple weakness
I think over recent yrs both Samsung and apple r losing business to smaller Chinese vendors particularly in EU. in Japan apple is lost share it was at one point just recently 58% and last yr was 46% and probably 40%or below now . that's mainly becoz Japan is now the biggest market for pixel phones now and grew at 527%
in korea apple is gaining coz of subsidies from carriers
of the 10% decline in iphones by idc only less then 4% is from China so there r declines happening elsewhere -

It's worth recounting this tale from an urgent meeting Cook had called:"One day back then, he convened a meeting with his team, and the discussion turned to a particular problem in Asia. “This is really bad,” Cook told the group. “Someone should be in China driving this.” Thirty minutes into that meeting Cook looked at Sabih Khan, a key operations executive, and abruptly asked, without a trace of emotion, “Why are you still here?”
Khan, who remains one of Cook’s top lieutenants to this day, immediately stood up, drove to San Francisco International Airport, and, without a change of clothes, booked a flight to China with no return date, according to people familiar with the episode. The story is vintage Cook: demanding and unemotional."

The problem isn't a one person problem but lack of investment into AI look at how AI is going every week there is a new product and things are moving too fast its not ur standard thing. Apple is already like 5yrs behind and gap is widening since AI is moving at light speed
U need a 10x investment atleast
