Apple Pay VP Jennifer Bailey keen on cryptocurrency, iPhone as identification
larryjw said:I haven’t heard anything that would convince me cryptocurrencies are viable.
Coin mining takes the energy of a small city, yet they can only handle seven (7) transactions per second.
Cold fusion and cryptocurrencies are have a lot in common. -
TSMC's 7nm process enhancement may keep Apple from using Samsung for 'A12' chip production...
It is really difficult to appreciate how small 7 nanometers is without some comparison. A strand of spider silk is about 7 micrometers wide, a full order of magnitude (1000x) thicker.
7 nm is also about 3 times smaller than the smallest virus.
We take it for granted, but it really is quite amazing that we can manufacture something that small - and smaller! -

'Apple Together' group organizing corporate, retail walkout on Dec. 24
My advice to these employees is, go learn a skilled trade. You can make all the money you’ll ever need and don’t even need to take out a school loan. Get out of retail, it’s a dead end, just like restaurants. Yeah, you might need to get dirty, work outside, in the cold or blazing heat, but in the end it’s an honest living, and skilled trades of all types are in desperate need of younger workers. -

13-inch iPad Pro review: hardware of the future running software of the past
FTA:
”Since I can't have more than one audio app active on iPad, I can be listening to music and have a video ad in Safari stop playback. System audio sounds like notifications interrupt audio, too.”
it depends on the App. I can run Audiokit’s SynthOne, their FM synth, and the 909 drum machine concurrently, either playing loops or played live.
Maybe System audio is handled differently. I’m sure someone else here can shed more light on that. -
Apple is pouring money into Siri improvements with generative AI
I read a couple of articles about AJAX. The first one said it is run on Google cloud and built with Google’s JAX frame work. The other said that AJAX is Apple proprietary. Which is correct? Or can they both be correct at the same time? Also, does this mean if this is ever implemented into Siri or other Apple software, iPhone users will have their data routed through Google whether we like it or not?And why would Google let Apple develop a competing technology on their own servers? Unless that’s where the millions of dollars are going. -
