How to make an external bootable drive in macOS Sequoia
Hello Kids. I have found that starting in OS 14.7 update as well as OS 15 on intel macs apple has implemented an off disk security patch that has to run before the bootable hard drive allows you to access the recovery options. It used to boot completely off the external hard drive you made from this article and deployed the efi, firmware update off the hard drive but Apple seemed to have taken this off the current external install image. So even if you have security set to OFF and allow external drives boot to ON in recovery prior to using your disk once the external disk is chosen in the boot picker, it will still boot to internet recovery to get the security update and run prior to allowing you to boot a second time successfully onto the external drive for install. They must have decided to keep this update close by making it server side accessible only instead of supplying it on the disk image. We image dozens of machines a day and it has added another 10 minutes to our workflow for each machine. As for Apple Silicon machine I have not confirmed this behavior since we just drop an ispw file onto the newer macs in Apple Configuratior and it's done it under 10 minutes.

How to use Call Recording and transcription in iOS 18.1
Can anyone tell me why Apple has never given the iPhone access to a built in call attendant? A simple press 1 to continue would block 99% of the daily spam calls and not send them to voicemail. For a privacy based company I would have thought this would be a no brainer. Instead you have to forward your number to a call attendant service and pay a subscription in order to add this feature to your phone. Please dont suggest Google Voice. I dont want to give up all that personal data. -
How to install App Store apps on an external SSD
Again they have designed themselves into a corner. Years of cash grabbing for ram and storage space. Only after it's in their interest (more ram needed for Apple Intelligence) and now more space (needed for Apple Intelligence) can you have a button to effectively make the workaround Apple elegant. Why did 16GB suddenly become standard when less than a year ago they made points that you only needed 8GB and why did I just get 25GB of App space back when I turned off Apple Intelligence for the second time. I love the products and have everything but with it comes anxiety on cables, adapters, and Apple upgrade tax. -

Amazon slashes 15-inch MacBook Air M4 (24GB RAM, 512GB SSD) to record low $1,432
Agree who would have thought storage anxiety would be a thing. Also whats up with Apple Keyboards. 9 years now they seem to have forgotten how to make them. First they just don't work from 2016 to 2020. Then they redesign it and make them awesome but they keycaps show wear in the first 90 days. To make matters worse they then remove the keycap kits from the self service repair web site. For such beautiful products they make no concession for anxiety causing factors. -
Apple's high storage prices may be key to mitigating iPhone 17 Pro price rises
Only when Apple's AI model requires 200GB of storage on your device will we see base storage at a measly 500GB (like they did with ram). When harvesting ai data outweighs the cash grab for storage upgrades, will this never ending pain end. I buy upgraded storage on everything for the premium, but I see sooo many customers out of space on a daily basis it makes it hard to perform service for them. I've become a data pusher not a repair tech.
