CurrentC inches closer to death as Apple Pay adds over 30 banks
amarkap said:Please know that I'm not meaning to bash Apple (or Apple Pay) when I write this, but honestly I don't really get it too much. I have an Apple Watch and I have used Apple Pay with it, but it was never like a game-changing moment. Partly my fault in that I forget what button to press to bring up Apple Pay on the watch but even the few items it all worked I guess it was just okay. Using a credit card would have been just as well. Again, not earth-shattering cool by any means for me. But I keep reading about how Apple is getting more and more banks and places to come on board...but I never really know why. Is it just to sell hardware? I can't imagine people going the way of Apple just for this. Maybe a little bit sure...but all this has got to be costing Apple some good money. I can say the Share price sure doesn't reflect this initiative. Anyway, no harm no foul I guess so keep going and maybe the new generation prefers all this.
The big deal is that ApplePay turns your credit card into a device that is secure, can make and receive phone calls, send sms's and email, browse the internet, organise your calender, take photos and notes, read books, edit documents, make and play music, install apps, etc, etc, etc...

Actually, there is something new about Apple's upcoming iPhone 7
Curtistech said:I own a lot of phones (iPhone 6S+, Note 5, iPhone 5S, galaxy S7 etc.) so as a consumer I can truly appreciate what each device brings to the market.
*facepalm*
Unless you are a developer, not only did you just demonstrate that you seem incapable of matching your requirements to a single device but you also demonstrated that potentially Samsung's sales figures would be halved if you ever got your act together.
That's not good news for Samsung or Android.
I also hope you have an iPhone 4 to do the things your iPhone 5s and iPhone 6s Plus can't do... -

Apple discontinues Thunderbolt Display, no replacement announced
mdriftmeyer said:kermit4krazy said:I'm always amazed by things like this. Apple has about 60,000 employees. About half of them are working on the retail side, and the other 30k or so work for corporate. There weren't 100-200 people they could dedicate to designing and engineering a replacement display, oh, at some point over the past 5 years?? The company also has more money stockpiled than any other company on earth. Yes, I know that most of it is overseas, but the same goes for all the other huge companies too. They could have freed up some funds, is all I'm saying.
Slowly but surely they're dropping more and more product lines to make room for more iPhone SKUs. They act like a rose gold phone is a big deal. No, a new Mac mini would be a big deal. A new Macbook with two ports would be a big deal. A new Macbook Pro with user-serviceable parts would be a big deal. A new version of Aperture would have been a big deal. A new Mac Pro would be a big deal. A new Thunderbolt display would have been a big deal.
Sorry, just been frustrated with Apple lately. I still love them, but I need a new Macbook Pro to replace my aging 2011 13" that I got new for $1,100 and then upgraded to a 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM myself, but I can't afford to pay Apple $2,500 for something new but comparable.

Fixed that for you, eventually.
