  • The story of the original iPhone, that nobody thought was possible

The first generation (first released model) iPhone was only available in 4GB or 8GB.  The refreshed model the following year in early 2008 was bumped up to 8GB or 16GB and the 4GB model was dropped.  EDGE was slower than the relatively new 3G network, but I would not call it unreliable.  Like any network, it was reliable if you had a good signal.  I never had any issues in Los Angeles.

  • BMW to charge drivers $80 per year for CarPlay access in 2019

If people are dumb enough to buy a BMW, then they are dumb enough to pay a subscription fee to activate CarPlay.

If it were a different model, I would agree with you. https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht201296 Even Apple states that it came in 4, 8 and 16GB versions.
At launch, it was only available with 4GB or 8GB.  It was not until a refresh in early 2008 that the 16GB capacity was offered.  Of course Apple now states that the 1st gen included 4, 8, or 16 GB, but you could not buy a 16GB version when it was first launched.

  • Apple's iOS 10.3 update can reclaim as much as 7.8GB of available storage

iPad Pro 9.7” 256 GB.  When I bought my iPad Pro during black Friday last November, I was surprised it still had the original OS installed, iOS 9.3.  So I took screenshots of before and after from 9.3 to 10.1.1 when I first turned it on.

iOS 9.3 capacity 232 GB and 226 GB available.  Stock configuration out of the box with 6 Apple apps installed.

iOS 10.1.1 capacity 248 GB and 240.36 GB available.  Same 6 apps and 1 photo for the screenshot under iOS 9.3

iOS 10.3 capacity 252.56 GB.  Now my iPad is loaded up so I cannot give you an available capacity because I am not going to wipe it.

The capacity from 9.3 to 10.3 has increased from 232 GB to 252.56 GB.  So the file system and other features have improved the efficiency of flash memory space.  My iPhone 7 Plus 256GB reports a capacity of 252.19 GB after upgrading to iOS 10.3.  I think under 10.2.1 it was around 248 GB.

  • High-end 2019 Apple iPhone lineup may shift to 'Pro' branding

Slap Pro on the name and raise the price. Phil Schiller’s Apple.
Still grinding that axe, eh? As someone who follows multiple Apple websites and bloggers, you of course know that pro designates higher-tier models. Higher-tier models have more, do more, and cost more. For some reason you seem to pretend you’re entitled to the additional features without the additional cost. Very bizarre.

If this rumor is true we’ll see what additional features they offer. If they offer an attractive value proposition, people will pay. If not, you’re free to get a different model, aren’t you?
You seem to forget that not too long ago, the word 'Pro' only meant a FireWire 800 port on a MacBook Pro.  The iPad Pro only means pencil support and not much else to convince anyone to buy it...as the majority of consumers do not find the value in it.  Now the basic iPad can use a pencil.  Apple's use of the word 'Pro' is kind of a joke, especially if they want to claim a phone is 'Pro'.

  • Three Apple original films to hit theaters this fall ahead of Apple TV+ debut

Apple only wants to put them in theaters for a few days for 1) a money grab, and 2) to be considered for Oscars.  Sad that Apple wants to join the douchebags of Hollywood in which they give each other fake awards after patting themselves on the back, while the rest of the real working world does not care about their politically charged award show. Winning an Oscar does not make you a player in Hollywood.  No one is really interested in Apple's boring offerings.  Do millennials really want to watch the progression of an elephant?

  • All the new features in iOS 11.4: AirPlay 2, Messages in the Cloud, & much more

Can't get Messages on my Mac to sync via iCloud.  All of my iOS devices seem to work.  Anyone else have this issue?
Details including Mac are published at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208532

You have to read footnote 1 in https://support.apple.com/en-jo/ht207428 for confirmation that once Messages in iCloud is enabled, messages are now stored in general iCloud storage (which still counts towards your free 5GB or paid storage plan), rather than iCloud Backup storage.

Since most of the storage space is used by images and attachments, it would great to have a one-tap option to select all images / attachments, to delete them in batch (instead of having to select each of them one at a time one before tapping trash, or by deleting the entire conversation)
Since most people have tons of text messages with photos and some videos, it looks like iMessages in the Cloud is Apple's way to get people to buy more storage since 5GB is nothing and people typically have the Messages setting to retain all messages.  I don't back up to the cloud since it is not a full backup in the cloud, but many people do and it maxes out their 5GB free storage and so iMessages won't work in the cloud since it uses the same space.  Apple should increase their free tier to 10GB and not force people to pay for storage to use features.

  • Should you upgrade to the 2020 iPad Pro?

When Apple jacked up the prices of the iPad with this fake ‘Pro‘ moniker, they are just ripping people off.  The FaceID camera and fancy rear camera does not make something ‘Pro’.  Neither does the ‘X’ variant processor, which was the staple for the iPad up until a few years ago.  The Air 2 has an ‘X’ processor and that wasn’t called Pro.  Now they call it a Z?  They are just making stuff up now, like the fake naming of the iPhone XR.  Schiller said they came up with the XR because he thought it sounded like a sports car.

  • Apple TV+ boasts highest bitrate of any 4K streaming service, report says

So now Apple is trying to push the 'quality' of the stream...too bad all 9 shows are boring as hell and not worth watching.  Pathetic for a streaming service with only 9 shows.  They are all getting lousy reviews.  Way to go Apple.

  • Apple makes iOS 13.1, iPadOS 13.1 developer betas available for testing [u]

While it seems odd, this is not unexpected to me at all. iOS 13.0 is a disaster and since beta 2 I've known that this was going to be a bomb of a release. And clearly they know it, because they are going to move right past 13.0 (never releasing it to the general public) and skip to 13.1 which will be the bare minimum for public consumption.
Nice trolling....you copied and pasted the same drivel at 9to5 too.  Nice that you made that assumption after a second beta release, without using any of the others...skipping beta 3 through 7 and continued betas to be released.
