The story of the original iPhone, that nobody thought was possible
The first generation (first released model) iPhone was only available in 4GB or 8GB. The refreshed model the following year in early 2008 was bumped up to 8GB or 16GB and the 4GB model was dropped. EDGE was slower than the relatively new 3G network, but I would not call it unreliable. Like any network, it was reliable if you had a good signal. I never had any issues in Los Angeles. -

Apple's iOS 10.3 update can reclaim as much as 7.8GB of available storage
iPad Pro 9.7” 256 GB. When I bought my iPad Pro during black Friday last November, I was surprised it still had the original OS installed, iOS 9.3. So I took screenshots of before and after from 9.3 to 10.1.1 when I first turned it on.
iOS 9.3 capacity 232 GB and 226 GB available. Stock configuration out of the box with 6 Apple apps installed.
iOS 10.1.1 capacity 248 GB and 240.36 GB available. Same 6 apps and 1 photo for the screenshot under iOS 9.3
iOS 10.3 capacity 252.56 GB. Now my iPad is loaded up so I cannot give you an available capacity because I am not going to wipe it.
The capacity from 9.3 to 10.3 has increased from 232 GB to 252.56 GB. So the file system and other features have improved the efficiency of flash memory space. My iPhone 7 Plus 256GB reports a capacity of 252.19 GB after upgrading to iOS 10.3. I think under 10.2.1 it was around 248 GB.

High-end 2019 Apple iPhone lineup may shift to 'Pro' branding
StrangeDays said:rogifan_new said:Slap Pro on the name and raise the price. Phil Schiller’s Apple.
If this rumor is true we’ll see what additional features they offer. If they offer an attractive value proposition, people will pay. If not, you’re free to get a different model, aren’t you? -
Three Apple original films to hit theaters this fall ahead of Apple TV+ debut
Apple only wants to put them in theaters for a few days for 1) a money grab, and 2) to be considered for Oscars. Sad that Apple wants to join the douchebags of Hollywood in which they give each other fake awards after patting themselves on the back, while the rest of the real working world does not care about their politically charged award show. Winning an Oscar does not make you a player in Hollywood. No one is really interested in Apple's boring offerings. Do millennials really want to watch the progression of an elephant? -
All the new features in iOS 11.4: AirPlay 2, Messages in the Cloud, & much more

You have to read footnote 1 in https://support.apple.com/en-jo/ht207428 for confirmation that once Messages in iCloud is enabled, messages are now stored in general iCloud storage (which still counts towards your free 5GB or paid storage plan), rather than iCloud Backup storage.
Since most of the storage space is used by images and attachments, it would great to have a one-tap option to select all images / attachments, to delete them in batch (instead of having to select each of them one at a time one before tapping trash, or by deleting the entire conversation) -
Should you upgrade to the 2020 iPad Pro?
When Apple jacked up the prices of the iPad with this fake ‘Pro‘ moniker, they are just ripping people off. The FaceID camera and fancy rear camera does not make something ‘Pro’. Neither does the ‘X’ variant processor, which was the staple for the iPad up until a few years ago. The Air 2 has an ‘X’ processor and that wasn’t called Pro. Now they call it a Z? They are just making stuff up now, like the fake naming of the iPhone XR. Schiller said they came up with the XR because he thought it sounded like a sports car. -

Apple makes iOS 13.1, iPadOS 13.1 developer betas available for testing [u]
Metriacanthosaurus said:While it seems odd, this is not unexpected to me at all. iOS 13.0 is a disaster and since beta 2 I've known that this was going to be a bomb of a release. And clearly they know it, because they are going to move right past 13.0 (never releasing it to the general public) and skip to 13.1 which will be the bare minimum for public consumption.
