  • France plans country-wide digital identity cards on iPhone by the summer

Hello, I'm French here are some detail on how it works for us actually.
The digital ID using France Identité is open for more than a year now, the driving licence to (used during the 2024 Olympics). The new service that you even show in your picture is the general rolling this summer of the car ID.
The only limitation we had until march this year is that to migrate your personal ID in the app you should have a less than 6 year physical ID, now it is open to every one. And by the way the social security card general rolling in France Identité is available to (last month).
From a year now you can use France Identité to travel (train, plaine, car, public transportation), you can use it to prove identity, and to log securely to all public services including IRS. The good thing about this app is that it can share only needed informations. For exemple, I'll like to buy wine (what a cliché), I need to prove that I'm over 18, I can show France Identité and not show my date of birth, it only tell the seller that I'm over 18.
Regarding the Apple Wallet compatibility, it is clear that it will not be available (official confirmation) and the France Identité system is under the close look of EU for a general adoption of the framework around EU if it satisfy the required standards. September 9th 2024, the first step of EU adoption has been checked as EU confirm the recognition of France Identité as enough secure and reliable to be officially recognize around EU.
    (Sorry for my English BTW)

  • Review: Mantiz MZ-02 enclosure is a stylish Thunderbolt 3 dock and eGPU enclosure in one

Got mine for a few days ago and got to say that it definitely worth it...
Working fine with a Geforce 1080Ti, even with Windows installed on a SSD inside the enclosure.
An other important thing, I accidentally broke something on the motherboard and I've to say that the support was really great. Answer within an hour and back and return so quick, it seams like Amazon, I had to say.
Tomorrow I'll try my HTC Vive on it (under windows), should be great.

  • iOS 18's slow rollout will phase in Apple Intelligence over the next six months

As I live in EU I can't wait for Apple to publish there first selling results.
On EU Apple web sites there is no such thing as Apple Intelligence references. Nearly all phones are still available for delivery the next day.
First Apple try to explain there is a problem with regulation... Those as been proven that it was wrong because we already have the AI act regulation clear. So Apple try to explain now that everything is going fine to deliver AI in EU in 2025... But after all there communication just says the languages, not the countries.
What a mess. So I can't wait for the market to show Apple they have to take care of others market than US to (We have the same problem for years as Apple roll out some functionally sometimes 2 years after the US). Are we talking about a small company or one of the biggest in the world.
Samsung deliver product with all the same functionality in nearly all countries

  • Why Walmart still won't accept Apple Pay

As a French costumer (France, EU), this is a strange choice Walmart has made.
Here, there is no shop that doesn't accept Apple Pay. Even when you shop on local street food market the Apple Pay solution is not a question we ask, it just work. As a mater of fact, the Apple Pay stickers are not even displayed anymore in many store as there is no way it don't work (and so with Google Pay BTW).
Most of my friend (and me) doesn't even get out with a wallet anymore, our ID is in our phone/Apple Watch with transportation card, driving permit and Apple Pay compatible paiement card (and all French banks, with no exception are compatible with it).
Wish you Wallmart change their policies to simplify customers life !

And my iPhone 7 still can’t do a simple 1+2+3 without answering 24...
Stop whining. It's already fixed in the 11.2 beta. Or, you know, you can figure out what 1+2+3 is by yourself.

You are so true... On a device like this, the answers are:
    - use a beta software
    - type slower
    - change your app

So silly I am to think that Apple have to do it right... The lighting photo effect is in beta on a thousand dollar device but it seem’s normal to...

    Not for me, sorry.

BTW, I love my iPhone but that is not a reason to tolerate a non finish job on iOS system software.
