  • YouTuber reveals 'iPhone 11' models, claims few changes

They are pushed to the side of the phone to make room for the battery in the center and right-side.
They could still center the camera module with Apple's L-shaped battery because the part of the battery that covers the center of the phone is in the bottom portion of the casing. More than that, Apple is famous for their ability to design the internals of their devices.  I have no doubt Apple could place that camera module wherever they want on that phone and make it work.

Personally, I think Apple would keep the module in the upper left corner because of tradition.  It's always been in the upper left corner.  I hope these renders and mockups are wrong, because that off center squircle is disconcerting and just plain ugly.
I presume the wireless charging coil currently in the dead center could be an issue with centering the new cameras.

  • Review: iPhone SE is the definition of affordable smartphone power

Yeah, I get that it’s “a good deal” but you get (or don’t get in this case) what you pay for. Sorry, but Touch ID/home button, no Face ID, small battery, and large top/bottom bezels among other things are ancient history, and should be retired. Not all of us have the eyesight of a teenager anymore. My XS max fits my pocket fine. And if it didn’t, the X/Xs would. The best part is that we won’t be hearing the nauseating SE rumors for another 4 yrs again.

  • Unsurprisingly, a 2020 iPad Pro will bend if you try to break it

I’m not sure if this site was always AppleApologist and I just didn’t notice so much to start with, or what.  I don’t even need to see the video (and I haven’t) to know that iPad Pros are weaker than they used to be, and weaker than they should be, to function as the go-anywhere, Chuck-in-a-backpack tablet they were originally intended as.  It’s not just a question of materials either, the current design is just fundamentally less strong and far more prone to flex.

Apple should be called out on that.  They should be called out on a bad design which functions less well than it’s predecessors and will be an expensive disappointment for some of its customers.  And when they launch another new iPad generation with the same design flaw and the same weakness, they deserve to be called out on it again, and for more YouTubers to make these same videos pointing it out.

Apple should do better.  So should AppleInsider.

My 2018 12.9 iPad Pro has spent many many days in my backpack and does not show any signs of bending. Mind you, I’m not stupid enough to lean back on my pack like it’s a recliner. Millions of people put their plus sized phones in their pockets, but some brains are required to realize putting it in your back pocket and then sitting on it isn’t a good idea. It’s hilarious how some people feel that a thin glass slab should be able to withstand the same abuse a skateboard or 1 inch thick laptop can. Then they would also complain when the lightweight and sleek tablet Is built stronger, now weighing too much to comfortably hold and transport conveniently.
Come on people, take care of your stuff like you would with anything costing this much.

  • 'X-ray teardown' of iPad Pro Magic Keyboard illustrates complex engineering

Just got mine, and it’s fantastic. For those saying “for the price of this and an iPad pro you could get a MacBook instead” the point is that I already have the iPad Pro so why would I need the MacBook? It’s an expensive accessory that, for me, makes the iPad so much better as a 2 in 1 device. In my mind, it’s worth it’s cost more so than a $170 CAD pencil.

But can someone please explain to this tiny mind what a “mirrored selfie” is? I still don’t get it. Thanks.
When you take a picture with the front camera (usually a selfie) then the image is currently mirrored (so for example words appear backwards)

There is now an option to correct this.
This is incorrect, at least for me on XS Max. I just verified this. The image on the screen when taking selfie is indeed reversed, but the picture taken is displayed correctly (unflipped) when viewed in camera roll. Not sure why anyone would choose to reverse it on purpose. So this feature is to undo the automatic correction?
