  • Hands on: Everything new in tvOS 18 for Apple TV

Disappointed Apple TV 4K is still limited to 48 kHz audio from both hi-res Apple Music  and streaming directly from a Mac. Imagine if your photo streaming was limited to 720 ppi.  :|
Yeah, the situation is inexplicable. The AppleTV could be a great streamer and all-in-one media centre. The hardware limitations on a premium product make no sense and continue to disappoint.
Agreed. It makes no sense for Apple to offer high res audio in Apple Music and still not support it in Apple TV, which is likely hooked up to the best speakers in the house. Like others, I continue to be annoyed by this obvious omission.

  • MagSafe Duo Charger, iPhone leather sleeve cost $129, and are 'coming soon'

Who wants a sleeve for their phone?  It only makes it more trouble to access the phone. The longer I have the new iPhone 12 Pro the more I’m thinking this new form factor is a step back. It is bulky by comparison to the X and 11. And I have yet to see a good case.

  • 'Severance,' the biggest success on Apple TV+, will be back for a third season

But season 2, ep 7 "Chikhai Bardo" is one of the most unique, creative, innovative, incredibly shot, edited, directed, and acted 50 minutes of television ever made, imho. Hopefully it will get the recognition it deserves.
100%. In a season of spectacular filmmaking, that episode stands out. Super impressed with the finale, too.

For hardcore fans, the podcast is such a treat. For the S2E7 of the pod, they feature cinematographer Jessica Lee Gagné, who directed that episode. She is certainly a talent to keep an eye on.

  • Apple execs explain Apple's position in the AI race & how it isn't necessarily 'behind'

I support Apple’s approach to seamless integration of AI. AI will naturally recede into the fabric of our devices. I even understand their need to spin the current state of affairs. It is not an optimal position for them to be in, Apple will get this right in the end and they have enough time to do so.

Where I think these comments miss the mark is trivializing the evolution of LLM functionality with the term “chatbot.” From Siri to Alexa to ChatGPT, the promise is always a natural language interface to our devices. To pretend that it should not be core to Apple’s user experience is simply not believable. It is more essential and thus not comparable to Amazon or YouTube. Our digital agents will be an essential part of how we interface with our devices. I get Apple needs to buy some time, but this will be core to human interaction with our digital ecosystem. For Apple to suggest otherwise is disingenuous.
