  • Apple TV+ review: 'See' is no 'Game of Thrones'

My concern with AppleTV+ is not really the quality of the shows, given enough money there will be a few good ones and a few bad ones.
My question is - 'what does apple bring to the table?'.

Apple has always been meticulous is choosing to enter spaces where they can bring something to the table. whether it is wearables, phones, music players, iTunes etc. I don't see anything that apple can do in streaming shows that others can't or don't have the ability to do. I am not convinced this is a great investment.

  • Epic CEO Tim Sweeney grilled on platform agreements, V-Bucks

Epic's case seems very weak. There really is no anti-competitive angle to this case from Apple. Epic wants to put their games on the App Store without following some of the rules, that is it. I think they are going to lose this big time.

Spotify to some extent, and Tile to a large extent have better cases. Because in both those cases Apple is both the storefront and a competitor. So, it is atleast a debatable topic and hopefully something useful and fair will emerge from those cases.

  • EU to charge Apple over anti-competitive App Store fees this week

Apple has every right to completely remove the app store and sell a phone with only apple created apps. Nobody stops apple from doing that.

But since they have created an app store where third parties can sell their ware, they have a legal obligation to maintain a fair market. They can't have their cake (by getting all the third party app ecosystem) and eat it too (by using anti-competitive measures against these third party developers). Remember, the legal suits and complaints are by these third party developers and not by the government. They have every legal right to expect a free and fair market and to sue when they don't get it.

It is not too much to ask that every apple app also pass through the same gates that third party apps pass through.
Apple apps should have access to the same capabilities that third party apps do.  (Otherwise how is it different from IE and Netscape?)

  • Foxconn to quadruple iPhone factory workforce in India

If you can make things work in India, then nothing better usually. The human rights issues mostly don't exist, since there is a very strong (some say too strong) labour law.

The problem in India is usually the local politicians and their agendas (maybe the bane of all democracies). Most companies need to keep "good" relations with whoever in is power, and decent relations even with the opposition local politicians so you don't get stuck in the crossfire.

  • French, German ministers to meet in push to counter encrypted messaging apps

i see tallest is showing his usual kindness and humanity.
I would turn them away, with deadly force if necessary. If it was necessary for my nation–my people–to survive, I would gun them down where they stand. Every single last one of them.

That goodness would be illegally invading a country, unleashing a sectarian civil war with no plan to stabilise the country.
Bombing innocent civilians, call them collateral damage and wondering why people might want revenge?

people like you are one of the reasons why this cycle of violence will always continue and yet you will always blame others without recognising your own culpability in the events.

I don't pretend to have the answers but your answer is just to kill, kill and kill again.  Fight fire by adding kerosene, its bound to go out.. honest!

If in doubt swear, as that's a sure fire way of winning an argument. Adding expletives just shows you have an extremely immature vocab'
Tallest Skill is really losing it here.
The refugees are common, normal people going through bad times not necessarily of their own making, Remember, a lot of these countries don't even have democracies (some like egypt due to CIA).

But, that being said, letting them enter your country knowing fully well what it is going to unleash is just stupid. A utopian Multi-cultural society is all fine, but not being pragmatic in the current situation is just plain stupid.

  • Apple Watch Series 2 abandons gold Edition models in favor of ceramic

Its ok. Apple got the 'watch' right, but their bid to turn it into expensive jewelry was not as successful as they hoped, beyond the $1200 price point. It is fine to accept it and move on. Every move can't be an absolute success.

  • India urges Apple, others to embed government-funded biometric ID technology into smartphones

Ok, too much mis-information going on here.

    - Aadhar is not mandatory. The Supreme Court of india ruled on it and made it non-mandatory. Despite it being optional about 83% of the people are already registered for Aadhar and the rest are just being lazy or ignorant. So, nobody has forced anything.

    - There are strict guidelines on what the biometric information can be used for (again the supreme court ensured that). So, for ex. the biometric information can't be used by the Police etc. etc. It is purely for the welfare and social security system and general identification/authentication. There are a myriad cards or ids currently (like driving licence, PAN cards etc.), and Aadhar unifies various existing systems and eliminates wastage and crime. Unlike in developed countries, welfare crime in india is very high.

    - The article doesn't give enough information on what the government wants, but not attending a meeting where their requirements/justifications are presented is just stupid.

Regarding Apple Pay, NFC is non-existent in india, don't see it picking up anytime soon. So, I don't think apple should even be bothered about it.
