  • EU to propose common charger for all smartphones, ignores Apple's protest

Apple with it’s using USB-C for iPads but Lightning for others has no leg to stand on with this argument. It switched its laptops to USB-C creating huge ewaste. Apple likes to argue both sides of the coin when it comes to its costs. Very disingenuous.

  • Apple lowers holiday quarter guidance on lower than expected iPhone sales

    Oh, good lord.

Personally, I’m not that crazy about the “X” phones and may get an iPhone 8 instead. I don’t want to give up the ease of use I like about having a home button to be honest and I don’t care for Face ID.
Not a great fan of faceid myself and I have a X. The failure rate of the faceid vs finger id is at least 10x higher.

  • Apple debuts 14-inch MacBook Pro with HDMI, MagSafe, and a notch

Lots of cool stuff. Not sure about the notch and no Face ID to boot. Why add this. With full screen and no menu bar which can be done this will be very visible.

  • Titanium Apple Card shows signs of wear after just one month

I strongly suspect if Apple just put out a normal credit card no one would care. However, Apple made this a big design deal and showed it off as such. People expect better quality control Apple as such.

  • Titanium iPhone 15 Pro has new Action button, faster processor

The action button is cool, but the mute switch is very useful and many of us have been using it regularly for 15+ years, so I don’t know why they felt the need to remove it. We could have had both, and the mute switch has the significant benefit of showing its status at a glance, something the action button cannot do. Maybe the 16 Pro?
I agree. Being able to see that at a glance is very valuable.

  • Apple Vision Pro $3,499 mixed-reality headset launches at WWDC after years of rumors

Apple pushes this out before it’s prime time ready because it creates the mass market for it. It pushes development and sets the expectation this will be a mainstream product in a few years. Before Apple the smart watch was small niche product. The first gen wasn’t great but it paved the way for the one’s we have now.

  • Apple's Mac Studio launches with new M1 Ultra chip in a compact package

Placed my order already. Can’t wait to get it.  Still riding an old 2012 MacBook Pro as my main computer.

  • Apple debuts colorful 24-inch iMac with M1, upgraded camera and audio

Big chin, why? A little thicker and no chin is better IMO.

  • Apple Car can be a success without a wow factor

Removing the internal combustion engine and geared transmission removes most of the problems aligned with starting a car company from scratch. Safety, ride quality, and performance are things apple can afforded to acquire while they focus on the customer interface, processing, connectivity, and customer facing displays. Design and managing build quality is also a strong suit. Apple gives more cash back to investors via buy backs and dividends than Tesla makes each year because they can’t figure out what to do with all the extra profit in a reasonable timeframe. They have bought back 465 Billion Dollars in the last 4 years. That’s more than the total market value of Ford, Toyota, GM and Honda combined, by over 100 Billion Dollars. This is an endeavor they can definitely afford to do and do right.

Given the numerous electric car companies that have tried to start but have failed or are floundering, I don’t think the key to success is removing the ICE engine. There are many other issues with EV’s.

  • Apple unveils new iPad mini with updated design, 5G

At $499 vs $329 for the bigger iPad, I don't really see what the point of this is, aside from some barely noticeable CPU speed bumps vs the bigger one. Since you probably own an iPhone anyway, you could just get an iPhone 12/13 Plus for $200 more when you next upgrade, saving ~$200 (or $350 if you need cellular), have just one device rather than two, and you're not that far off iPad mini display size. The only major disadvantage is no pencil on iPhone.
Here's the thing -- it's not about you. Some people prefer a smaller tablet. Not a phone, but a tablet. I enjoyed a mini for many years and preferred it over larger sizes.
You don't say. That's why we're here isn't it? To discuss? I was wondering what the point of the mini is vs a bigger phone, and if people prefer a small tablet over a bigger phone, why is that? Genuinely curious, but of course all you can do is attack, rather than provide reasons, because that's all you're capable of doing.
The bigger phone is still smaller than the mini. I like having a smaller iPad for travel and commute. I don’t need a huge phone. This is the best of both worlds.
