T-Mobile will share subscriber data with ad partners - unless you opt-out
An update on T-Mobile prepay accounts. I just spoke with a T-Mobile representative, asking why I could not access the "More" tab on my iPhone (it's greyed out and doesn't function) to opt-out of their new data harvesting program. After being on hold a few minutes, I was told that prepay customers not allowed to opt-out of this insidious privacy policy. This makes no sense...I wonder if this policy also applies to third party telecom customers (like Mint or Straight Talk that use T-Mobile)? AppleInsider...please check with your sources!

macOS Sequoia 15.2 isn't allowing third-party utilities to make bootable backups
AppleZulu said:Actually, Time Machine actually has been having problems since Sequoia’s release. On MacBook Pros at least, there has been an issue getting Time Machine backups to complete when the Mac goes to “sleep.” There is some sort of issue with accessing certain files during sleep mode. I’m assuming this is some sort of security measure bumping up against Time Machine. Previously, as long as it was connected to power, you could close the notebook and set it aside, and it would continue to do wireless backups to NAS devices. Not any more, or at least not without adjusting some settings I haven’t figured out yet. I’ve been able to get backups to happen if the machine remains ‘awake,’ but just letting it happen in the background has been significantly diminished. I plan to set aside some time to take it up with Apple support, but haven’t yet done so. I was sort of hoping it would just get resolved in an update, but not so far.
This has occupied numerous threads in the Apple Communities, so, for now, Apple has broken any way to create a bootable (I have used SuperDuper! for years) or a Time Machine reliable backup.
One solution that does fix the Time Machine bug is to turn off the firewall (suggested by Apple), which is a very insecure/stupid fix. No idea if this also allows SuperDuper! to function properly… -

Some iPhone owners are reporting quick battery drain, but it's not clear why
When I received my first iPhone (an iPhone 5 in 2013), the battery drained rapidly after charging the first three times. I called Apple, and they replaced my iPhone 5 with a new iPhone 5. It was about the same time that Apple did say something about there being battery settling time after both initial set up and after upgrading software. So, this feature/problem has been around for over ten years.
I'm used to it now...and each new iPhone (SE, 11 Pro, and 16 Pro) have shown similar behavior. Yet, I've been very happy with each iPhone.

Apple is buying a treasure in Pixelmator, and we hope it won't get destroyed
Pixelmator Pro (and its predecessor, Pixelmator) has been my main image processing tool for years. Their customer service has been outstanding.
Somewhat recently,I found a few bugs that only affected esoteric things for me (like restoring scanned black and white negatives using Pixelmator Pro) which were squashed by Pixelmator staff in a very interactive way with me (rapid email exchanges)...and fast. They really care about their product and their customers/users. I think that is reflected in the frequent updates to Pixelmator Pro.
I hope that Apple retains the staff and the culture behind Pixelmator Pro. Don't fix what isn't broken.
And, a thank you to the Pixelmator company and their employees for building and growing the features of Pixelmator Pro. I hope you will keep up the good work with the potential additional resources that should be available from Apple. -

iPhones on iOS 18.1 will automatically reboot and lock down after being idle for a while
mdirvin said:I like it, but are we sure its 4 days? This would explain why my phone has ask be several times to enter my passcode to activate face ID. I was a bit taken back it has done it 3 or 4 times lately. But it hadn't been even 4 hours of inactivity. It was a bit of a pain since I use a 12 character passcode. -
iPhone 16 Pro review: More of the same, and that's a great thing
I upgraded from my iPhone 11 Pro to the 16 Pro last week. While I have wanted the 5x telephoto lens, I have never liked the "Plus" size iPhone Pro (too bulky). As the rumors circulated that the 16 Pro would have the tetraprism lens, I waited anxiously for the Apple Event earlier this month and preordered as soon as possible. I have been extremely happy with my 16 Pro, and have already done two dedicated photo shoots where not having the 5x lens would have limited me significantly....this by far is the best iPhone that I have ever had.
And, I got an unexpected $150 trade in value for my iPhone 11 Pro from Apple, which more than paid for the 256 GB upgrade for the 16 Pro.
