I feel bad for whatever engineer worked on this for many weeks or months. What a waste for something that won't ever happen. I can only imagine the guffaws at a press event if Apple tried to foist this on consumers again.

OTOH, when will Apple release touchscreen Macs? We've been clamoring for those for at least a decade.

Former Obama press secretary James Carney runs the 250+ person Amazon division that bribes government officials on Amazon's behalf. It's why Amazon's monopoly is propped up by the DOJ and Amazon doesn't pay taxes.

This need not be a concern for Google, considering who runs the US government now. He’ll take a bribe, openly, and this case will go away.

This tech seems important enough for the Mac that Apple should pay them to port existing DirectX 12 games for Apple Arcade.

I think the rumor is likely, and here's why: it will be easier for Apple to claim "Apple Intelligence works on all iPhone 16 and later models" than to say "Apple Intelligence works on all iPhone 16 and later models plus iPhone SE (4th generation) and later." People who own an iPhone SE have no clue what generation device it is.

A good reason for Apple to make touchscreen Macs is that government RFPs are often for touchscreen laptops. Apple doesn’t have such a product. Whether people would use the touchscreen is irrelevant. If Apple offered touchscreen versions of their laptops for $200 more, it would be like free money for Apple.

I'm guessing this will be the first year that prices for Apple hardware will be HIGHER in the US than other countries. The next iPhone could be $1000 in the US and $750 in Canada. Apple has a choice of either tanking its US sales or bribing an insane despot.
