To think this utter madman also has his finger on the nuclear button. He’s out of control but none of his team can do anything about it. Bit like Putin.
Last night I was listening to a history podcast. the subject was Emperor Caligula. The important point was that everyone in the palace and in the Senate knew he was insane. They knew he was making stupid choices that were damaging the empire. But everyone was too busy either arguing on the floor of the Senate, and/or jockeying for their own position/power/wealth so nobody stepped in. I see similarities to today.
Wasn't Caligula killed by his guards?
Yes finally when no one else would step up and remove him.

  • US launches semiconductor probe to explain away tariff exemptions

Or, you know, the probe is for what they say it’s for.
It would be nice to think that but from the article:
It's wrong to assume the outcome of any investigation, but in "21 DAYS AFTER DATE OF PUBLICATION IN THE FEDERAL REGISTER," technology businesses can expect tariffs and perhaps quotas. That's not an educated guess: commerce secretary Howard Lutnick has already prejudged the investigation and said that semiconductor tariffs will be coming.
They have already decided on the outcome and response. This is just a show to make it look like they are going through a proper process, to give them a fig leaf to excuse what they are already planning on doing.

  • Tariffs not stopping Americans from wanting new iPhones with Apple Intelligence

I don’t know what MS is smoking but those numbers make absolutely no sense to me. I’ve seen a lot of surveys and analyst’s reports in the last few months and consistently Foldable’s have been a tiny niche product, and AI is WAY down the list of important items.

  • A Mac mini can be made portable for about three times the cost of a MacBook Air

This is ‘portable’ in the same way the original Macintosh was ‘portable’.

  • Apple's Eddy Cue is guessing that the iPhone will eventually be replaced by AI

Unless the whole of Apple is just waiting for Tim Cook to announce his retirement before they ditch the iPhone and replace it with an AI-powered Apple Car.
    LOL great burn…

  • Cyan updates 'Myst' franchise for native Apple Silicon performance

I really enjoyed the updated iPad version of myst they released last year. I was hoping these would be for the iPad as well. OTOH at these prices I might just get them for my Mac though I don’t tend to game on it much.

  • Courts say AI training on copyrighted material is legal

There is a reason that two years ago I pulled all of my art, stories, essays, books, all of it off of the web.

  • Apple Watch Series 11: What's expected to arrive this fall

Tl:dr version - Minimal to no signifiant hardware or software changes this year.

Glad we upgraded to 10s last fall.

  • When you report bugs on iOS, some content may be used for AI training

The developer who spotted this addition criticized Apple for not including an opt-out option, saying that the only way users could opt out was by not filing a bug report at all.
If this is true it would adversely impact bug reporting. A lot of us are working very hard to not let our data be used for AI training. Now we may be in possession of an important bug report but have to violate our principles if we want to report it. Many may decide not to.  If this is true, it would be a very stupid move on Apple’s part.
Again, what’s the issue? What “principles”? You kinda sound like those vegans who just like to hear themselves talk and make themselves sound self-important.
Generative artificial intelligence is the cocaine of this generation. It is already damaging education, creativity, and putting people out of work.
