  • Brainstorm ideas with these three mind mapping apps on iOS and macOS

I’ve tried many mindmapper solutions, beautiful, great features and great presentation abilities. But, for just plain and simple mindmapping I have settled with Scapple. I’m only using that one now, unfortunately only available on macOS, not on iOS.

  • Editorial: Could Apple's lock on premium luxury be eclipsed by an era of good-enough gear?...

interesting article. Apple seems to be loosing ground by their appearant stubborn focus on exclusive and fashionable high-tech which does actually function close to perfectly. Just like in Steve Jobs' time, Apple doesn't listen to their customers. With Jobs this seems to have been a good idea as he had a pretty good vision on what people needed even before those people realized they needed this. With Cook it's different. There's no real innovation, it's mostly evolution. People want stuff in the Apple family which is good enough to run within the Apple family. Yes, a market exists for those sensitive to exclusive and fashionable gear. But that market will definately fail if Apple fails to answer to the demands of people who require gear which is good enough. For me, this involves an iPhone-SE-sized phone or even the continuation of the current SE as it's good enough already. And a MBP which is a continuation of the 2015-model as that one is good enough already. Everything beyond the SE and the 2015 MBP is indeed exclusive and fashionable but it's way beyond what a lot of people need (I deliberately refrain from making remarks regarding the newer MBPs regarding touchbar and keyboard). I feel Apple is currently using use-cases which do not sync with reality. If Apple doesn't review these use-cases, I fear Apple will loose ground very quickly, just like in the 90s. I'm already checking-out Android phones and Linux laptops, wondering when I will jump ship.

  • iPhone 'Personal Hotspot' tech violates networking patent, lawsuit claims

Ehr, isn't patent US7382771B2 prior art here? This patent is owned by Intellectual Ventures II.

  • Apple held secret meeting with developers in 2017 to push app subscriptions

Apple, please allow upgrade pricing besides subscriptions. I do buy software but I deliberately try to minimize my subscriptions.
I do understand software developers need
to be able to earn a living while
maintaining their software. Both models support this. Don’t push one model over the other. Allow developers to
choose a model themselves. The subscription model chased away many a customer from Adobe and Agile (1Password) already. I’m one of them
even though Agile tries to keep their
customers by providing a standalone version outside the appstore. I don’t trust this offering, besides, you won’t get your 30% (?) then.
Please reconsider the subscription model being the only possible model (besides free). Enforcing this doesn’t help anyone, not even Apple itself.

  • Editorial: Apple just told you that they aren't going to make an 'iPhone SE 2' any time so...

Seen too many people around me complaining about their fancy but too large iPhones. Some traded their phones for second hand SEs. I’ve stayed on the SE and I plan to stay as long as the current iOS still runs on it. Then I’ll start to ponder what phone to buy. Security matters most, second is the size (note: price is something I care less about). I’d like my next smartphone to be an iPhone. The 8 too large for me. I just prefer the SE or even the 4S sizes.

  • Popular iPhone XR 'saved' Apple, says report

I'm wondering how these graphs would have looked with a SE2 in the lineup.
