I am not sure why, but being an investigative article; I would expect a thorough fact check into the start of this project.  actually introduced a minimalistic Bluetooth headphone with the original iPhone, as an accessory. It was expensive, came with a dual dock, was pretty sleek; and supported A2DP while still being a mono headphone (in 2007). That’s where the investigation began, it just took a very long time to merge that tech w new lower power and more feature capable BT revisions and ditch the cord. The beats purchase definitely helped accelerate that development ten fold though
