  • Apple details user privacy, security features built into its CSAM scanning system

Apple is becoming pathetic in their deafness to criticism. This not a feature. It’s an invasion of privacy and the the ´back door’ they said they wouldn’t build. I don’t buy their devices to become a part of the surveillance state. Get out the h*** out of my data, Apple. Serve the customer. iCloud is supposed to helpfully sync across devices and helpfully provide off device storage. Now, suddenly they are proud to announce that it’s become a tool for surveillance.

  • Epic Games CEO slams Apple 'government spyware'

Apple completely screwed this up. It’s conceptually wrong from the start. I can’t believe this even got initiated as a project. It’s idiotic to try and excuse looking into private data by justifying the method of the technology. Apples entire stance before now is something I have supported. In this ridiculous step they’ve utterly failed. And should cancel this initiative.

  • Edward Snowden calls Apple CSAM plans 'disaster-in-the-making'

In a single moment Apple is destroying all of its credibility. It’s amazing to see the complete self destruction of a brand image they worked so hard to achieve. I’m awestruck by their utter ignorance of what they are doing. How rapidly the fall is happening. First, the company and CEO appear to be fully committed to user privacy, to the idea that a corporation or government doesn’t get to just march into our homes or property without a reasonable cause… to a company and CEO that in their actions deny any concept of private ownership of a device or a set of data or basically whatever they decide they or a government might want to poke around in. Not to mention the inevitable hacking that happens with all technology over time.

  • Apple debuts third-generation Apple Pencil with USB-C charging

If it’s basically just a generic stylus… I don’t see the point. It sounds like a horrible product. I also have to say thank god I have a gen 2! I use the Magnetic Charging all the time-so useful and efficient. And to reduce the artistic flexibility is also just bizarre. This seems like a totally misguided cheapening of a product. if I want a cheap stylus they’re available everywhere already.

  • EU law will force Apple to blow open its entire hardware and software stack

Dictating features and product design (that is not safety related) by a governmental body is ridiculous. Governments generally suck at questions of technology. And last time I checked Apple products are immensely popular as the company has chosen to design them. The ‘walled garden’ is something that I as a consumer has chosen to support. I definitely don’t want the EU or China or the US government for that matter trying to legislate product design and features. It’s a massive overstep. It’s just like the ‘backdoor’ that governments have been trying to manipulate into happening. This proposed law will take away my freedom to choose the product I want.

  • Apple & EU slammed for dangerous child abuse imagery scanning plans

How Apple didn’t see these privacy and security threats to their users and to society is mind boggling.

  • New FAQ says Apple will refuse pressure to expand child safety tools beyond CSAM

That Apple fails to see the conceptual problem with checking the contents of private accounts is mind boggling. And the idea, as other commenters mention, that users must rely on their current and future refusal to use this technology for other purposes is the most ridiculous thing ever. I don’t know if they are just too impressed with themselves, or simply stupid when it comes to anything beyond technological cleverness.

  • What the iPhone 15 Pro in gray titanium could look like

Yes, I’m very excited to see the ongoing development of the evergreen concept of the always impressive gray. Spanning the incredible range from an elegant silver to the richness of moondust and well beyond. It is with fascination that I await the real and final pseudo-color selections. I’m profoundly grateful that there is consistent resistance to what one may consider childish colors. We can be deeply thankful that the vision we may think of as grayscale rules the day. It calms the mind.

  • Mac Studio 2023 review: You probably want this, and not the Mac Pro

Probably this is common knowledge, but why has Apple made so much Not user upgradable? Is it to sell more new machines ? Is it to eliminate technical problems when users upgrade? Conceptually, I want more control of the thing I pay thousands for.

  • Mac Pro in danger after fumbled Apple Silicon launch

I wanted one. I was hopeful they would do what they said, but instead they shoved out a ridiculous unchanged product. It was a major letdown.

I would like to see a “halo” Mac, that shows off just how fantastic Apple can be.

Because they fell flat on their face with this, it gives the impression that they aren’t inspired and that those in charge think a more commodity approach is fine. That’s not the company I want Apple to be.

I have supported/purchased Apple products because the company and the engineers went beyond profit and loss. That excitement has kept me buying more than I absolutely need, because it helps get me inspired to reach further.
