  • Former Apple retail employee auctions 'Sam Sung' business card for charity

I'm surprised that this website would refer "Vancouver" without indicating whether it was "Vancouver, Washington" or "Vancouver, British Columbia."
I would agree with you if that was the only Canadian reference in the article, HOWEVER...

The article is filled wall to wall with Canadian references.even the currency mentioned is Canadian dollars! There is more than enough references and context to know which Vancouver they were referring to.

In fact, if you say "Vancouver" to the vast majority of the world's population it would mean Canada to them. Who knew there was a Vancouver in the USA too!

I know most Americans think that the USA is the centre of the universe, in fact the vast majority have never been outside their home state...

...sounds like you might be one of them...

  • Parent angry Apple didn't stop 10-year-old's $2,500 TikTok spree

They are absent parents who shove their phone into their 10 year old daughter's hands to shut them up and to keep them busy. Who lets a 10 year old loose on the unfiltered Internet? Unsupervised????

They deserved the "fine" and I agree with Apple's initial decision.

Somehow not surprised that the "blame everyone but themselves" parents managed to weasel their way out of paying the charges in the end... (Insert sarcastic congratulations)

  • Apple Acoustics VP hints that Bluetooth could be holding back AirPods

Wait, you mean Bluetooth can't deliver the same audio quality as a wire?  I'm shocked!  Shocked, I say!

    :D

It's pretty funny.  After all the ragging on the the little 3.5mm TRS plug / jack combo, it's not the weak link Bluetooth is.

Sorry to be pedantic, but a TRS jack/plug will give you a stereo headphone output only.

Apple used TRRS jacks and plugs, as that gives you stereo headphone output AND mono microphone input.

All Apple wired earbuds that came with an iPhone have a microphone.

I actually wish the 3.5mm (1/8th on an inch) connector would make a comeback (like vinyl records did) on future iPhones.

Having only a lightning connector sucks when you want to use and charge your iPhone at the same time. The included 3.5mm adapter has good sound quality but no splitter, so it is either power cable or 3.5mm adapter. I tried various lightning splitters and charge + 3.5mm socket combos...  The ones with 3.5mm socket all sounded terrible, some had hissing or buzzing in the background all the time. Lightning only splitter with Apple supplied 3.5mm adapter and charging cable sounds good, but is cumbersome and not comfortable to hold for extended periods.

Why not rather create a modern digital headphone connector and socket? It could become a worldwide standard and hopefully in future become as ubiquitous on audio equipment as the 3.5mm jack.

Or failing that, consider reintroducing 3.5mm sockets on future "plus model" iPhones. The larger iPhones have more internal space and it should be possible to squeeze a 3.5mm socket in there without any noticeable impact on battery life for example.

But I simply don't have the depth of knowledge on the intricacies of the matter to be able to form a solid opinion.

How refreshing to encounter someone who knows their limits and who publicly acknowledges it!

avon_b7, please tell me you have at least 6 children!

Have you ever visited Paris?  Oh, did I mean Paris, France or Paris, TX?
You forgot about Paris Illinois!  HOW DARE YOU! *stern frown while rolling on the floor laughing*

I've read a few things here with questionable editorial quality but this isn't one of them.

After all, Sung/Struan's move to Vancouver was reported by iPhone in Canada, not iPhone in Washington (or USA for that matter). Right there in black and white, in the same sentence.

In the same way, if Recoveryboy moves to Paris and Le Monde reports it, it's reasonable to assume that he moved to France not Texas.
Your explanation is spot on! From my perspective @22july2013 was blaming the author of the.article/AI when in fact their own lack of common sense was the real problem. Very often though, content put out by Apple Insider is decidedly rough around the edges - typos etc. - the majority of what I'm complaining about would've been caught by proofreading before posting. Come on AI, it is small things like this that makes it look like you don't care. Surely a proper proofreading should be part of your work flow process.
