  • Apple hikes Apple One cost by up to $5 as most services prices rise

Savings note - you can buy Apple gift cards (formerly iTunes cards) at discounts or with kickbacks(eg Best Buy or target gift card if you buy Apple is a frequent promo) or in some places stack grocery store fuel points and credit card category bonuses.  Once loaded on your Apple ID they’ll use that “discounted” money first.

  • Android amps up campaign to push Apple into adopting RCS

Just my opinion but I think Apple should support it but in a new color. RCS is an improvement over SMS although not as secure as iMessage.  Still SMS is so old I’d rather an RCS chat with a droid than SMS.

  • Robinhood data breach exposes 5M email addresses, personal data

Begging your pardon but you seem to want to punish the victim of a crime here.  If someone breaks into my home is it my fault because I didn’t upgrade my security every month?
The sad truth is just like a house where someone determined enough will break in there is no such thing as invulnerable security.  Computer users are in a no win scenario of fighting a purely defensive war against an enemy operating with complete impunity. That’s an impossible situation.  I think it’s time our government which by charter exists to protect and defend should engage by offering assistance to fortify the vulnerable and aggressively prosecute the perpetrators.

If there are no consistent, firm financial penalties for these companies, they have little incentive to harden their data stores. Every quarter there's another one. Besides corporate penalties, the highly-paid c-suite executives should also be financially penalized. If they don't feel the pain, they can't instill the importance to their teams.

  • Google uses Drake's 'Texts Go Green' track to troll Apple

I can’t help but wonder if Alphabet properly compensated Drake….

I just got one - the official apple mag was indeed creating over heat issues.  I like it so far although it looks like it’s only reaching 7.5w charging as it’s not official Apple.  Still not having the “iphone needs to cool down” messages is great.
Which begs the question - which is faster, a thermally-throttled 15W Apple Magsafe charger or a can't-use-more-than-7.5W-max non-Apple charger?
Good q - I’m not in a good place to accurately test it but so far I’d say it’s about even.  I’ll favor avoiding the over heat - having a locked up “needs to cool” phone when you get out of the car (oddly CarPlay kept going) is no fun not to mention the potential harm to the battery with repeat events.

  • ESR HaloLock car charger with CryoBoost Review: MagSafe-compatible with active cooling

    How loud is the fan?
Moderate - you can hear it if parked with no radio.  Once you drive with road noise or turn on the car audio it’s completely faded into the background.

  • Compared: New AirPods Pro versus original AirPods Pro

Any indication if the tips are interchangeable with the original?  I use foam tips to address the falling out issue mentioned.
