  • No, Apple's new Mac Pro isn't overpriced

It's somewhat amusing to see the Apple fans defend Apple's pricing - note I am huge fan and have all their gear. But if we can't even get ourselves to admit this stuff then well, nothing will ever change. It took a lot to get Apple to admit its mistakes with the MacBook Pro rectified with the new ones re Keyboard, Escape key, good GPU now etc.

This new Mac Pro when specced out on the high end is not over priced - it's comparable or even lower cost compared to HP or DELL in this space.

Where the Mac Pro IS over priced is on the low end. Given this is a "Pro" device, there is no reason for the low end machine with a 256GB SSD, Radeon 580 Pro to even EXIST! Priced at $5999.

There once was a time when you could get a fully loaded Quad G5 for way less. Anyway, I hope Apple releases a Mac Pro tower, perhaps with only 3 slots to justify (for them) a lower cost so that other folks can get in - folks that don't necessarily need the power but want the "hard core" performance.

  • New super high-end iPhone could arrive by 2024

iPhone Ultra = iPhone fold.  This would justify significant cost increase and value
I think you're correct. iPhone Fold - we're talking at least $3,000 USD starting price.

  • Apple Vision Pro could help surgeons see vital data during operations

This place is cringe when bulls*t articles like this appear. This tech already exists, has existed for years, and is in use in countless hospitals around the globe.
    Apple didn't invent anything new.

  • Apple Vision Pro $3,499 mixed-reality headset launches at WWDC after years of rumors

I don't think Apple stated what the field of view on this is?
From the demo it seems you will be surrounded from left to right with far peripheral vision, as well as top to bottom.
Something like the image below, so in other words total immersion. If this is the case, then Apple have a serious breakthrough here.

It is expensive, but I will get one when available in Australia. Based on US to AU FX conversion, it'll be about $5.5K to 6K here.
Some are saying in the current state these are for developers and "early adopters" paving the way for less costly units in the future. That hasn't been the Apple MO though.
The presenter said something at the end of the presentation - the gist of what he said was that if you were to get a huge 4K tv, 5.1/7.1 speaker setup etc it wouldn't even come close to what the Vision Pro offers, He may be right. However, where this falls apart is that the average family size is 4. So for a family of 4 to interact with each other, you're talking a huge investment.

  • Apple's Q1 earnings hit hard by iPhone production problems

I appreciate that Apple are a business and they're there to sell and profit.

I've been an Apple customer since the 80's and supported the company by continuing to buy its products during the difficult years.

That said, their prices continue to increase, to a point that in my opinion, is excessive today. I had been purchasing a new iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro as well as services every year without fail for a decade plus.

The past year was the first time I decided to pull the plug on that - not because the money isn't there - rather in response to the ever increasing prices and eye gouging (in my opinion). I feel that my loyalty is being taken advantage of. Pulled the plug on Apple Music and happily using Spotify as well.

I'll happily continue to use Apple products, because frankly they're the best. However they won't be extracting anywhere near the money they have been over the vears.
