  • Mac Studio with M1 UItra review: A look at the future power of Apple Silicon

I was so excited to get a Mac Studio until I saw the GPU benchmarks. Very disappointed and the wait continues for a Mac with great 3D performance. They should really clarify that  their performance graphs are for video editors only - this is no where near the performance of a 3090 for 3D and I didn't think it was but even if it was 70% of the performance of a 3080 I would have got one. Will there ever be a Mac with comparable GPU performance? Probably not, it seems their focus is solely on the video side of things.

Ironically Victoria is the most socialist state in Australia. The peeps are just cogs in the State machine.
Yeah its really awful to live in Australia. Universal health care, no guns, generally high standard of living, only a small homeless population, voting rights for all. It sucks!
What I have seen these last two years with the Australian government's authoritarian crackdown tells me everything!  Your perceived utopia sounds much more dystopian to me.
Lol must be the hard hitting Fox News exposé on Australian authoritarianism :D We have many problems in Australia especially when in comes to climate policies but dystopian ain't one. You should visit for yourself one day and enjoy some great coffee in Victoria.

  • Editorial: New Mac Pro highlights the gap Apple isn't filling

Great article!  This is exactly my position right now. I reluctantly bought a late 2013 iMac, one of the last models with nvidia GPUs, as a stop gap while I waited for a modular mac to come around. It's been a long wait and I thought finally this was the year. I'm a CG artist, one of the few still using a mac, and there aren't any macs in Apple's line up for my needs. It's either build a hackintosh (which I really don't want to because I'm not a tinkerer, I really want a mac that I don't have to troubleshoot all day) or bite the bullet and make the jump to Windows.  I've used a mac for 20 years and I've never felt like I had to leave the ecosystem - it's just depressing.

  • macOS 11.4 adds support for AMD 'Big Navi' 6800, 6800XT, 6900XT

This is great news, wish they'd add the GPU support to Catalina too - I don't want to update to Big Sur just yet.
