Apple halts update to HomeKit's new Home architecture
My issues with thread-only devices began a few months ago exactly at the time I upgraded from iOS 15 to 16 (no Betas). I did do the upgrade offered in 16.2 but Thread devices (Eve/Nanoleaf/Wemo) work for a few hours and then "no response" takes over. Apple Home is not reliable: everything works fine as long I elect not to use any Thread devices, and all the Thread devices worked flawlessly in iOS 15. Go figure! -

Some Apple HomeKit setups are breaking after iOS 16.2 update
My Home system got messed up with 16.1 and I have tried working with Apple Support for over a month. All was working great under iOS 15 but when I installed 16 (not beta) it killed all my 11 Thread devices (Eve/Wemo/Nanoleaf) but all other 34 non-Thread devices are working fine. So after numerous factory resets with still "no response" I gave up on all Thread devices and put them in storage. Apple is not serious about smart home automation. -
EU tells Apple to open everything up to its rivals
If Apple had the visceral fortitude they would promptly and concisely tell the EU to f$&k off and start closing down shop and stop selling to any EU member country. Maybe the folk there will rise up against the EU ruling class. With the expanding Asia market Apple will not fall. Sure, it will affect the stock market at first, but for Tim Cook to always tout "principles" he needs not to bow to the EU. The USB/C issue is one thing, but this new EU demand will open Apple's Pandora's box. -

Car thieves in Canada are using AirTags to track victims' vehicles
Sounds like Canada has shoddy export controls and inspections. Do they not check VINs on all outbound vehicles to compare to a lost/stolen vehicle database. AirTags are not the story (problem) here; incompetent authorities and toothless SOPs are to blame for the large number of stolen vehicles leaving Canada. plus, this story lacks pertinent details: AirTags can be tracked back to the activator. Was the hidden tag turned over to LE and if so what did they do about it? -
