  • Belkin plans AirPlay 2-enabled audio adapter

I was looking for something like this last year to hook up my older receiver to a pair of outdoor speakers. I eventually just settled on using an Apple TV, which worked out great. If this new device really is $120, an Apple TV may be a better buy.

  • 2025 iPad 11 vs M1 iPad Air: Newer isn't always better

Yes, I certainly was referring to 128 GB of storage vs system memory. But for the typical buyer of an entry level iPad, I would think they would notice lack of storage before a performance gain. I see the Geekbench scores are higher on the M1for multi-core and Metal - is the performance difference really noticeable in a real-world comparison? Or just the age-old spec sheet comparison battle?

Apple Intelligence support is a good call out and differentiator. I haven’t found it useful yet, and would hard pressed to recommend it to others, especially for an entry level iPad. But some might like having that support.

I get asked often by friends and family for tech purchase advice, and can’t think of a scenario where I’d recommend the M1 over the iPad 11 for a casual user. Those same friends and family don’t say “hey, this device feels too slow” with Apple’s incredible silicon performance, but they do say “can you help me clear off storage space?”  Storage wins.

Respectfully…why would one choose the Air? Maybe if they don’t care about memory?  Base price for a 128 GB IPad 11 is $350. You state a refurb M1 Air with 64 is $379. Why would I want to pay $30 more for half the memory and a refurbished device?

Its easier than ever to recommend the base iPad now that they’ve increased entry level memory to 64GB.
