Apple Watch Ultra debuts as a giant & rugged titanium model
Apple may call it Ultra but it’s by no mean a Pro watch. There’s still a world of difference between what the Apple Watch is able to do to support more extreme sports and activities and a true Pro watch such as a Garmin Fénix 7 or even an Amazfit T-Rex 2. And I’m saying this as a very, very long and passionate Apple user that already owned two Apple watches. The “Ultra” industrial design is only slightly better than the original design in dealing with impacts but it’s still far from the robustness that you need with a Pro watch. Sturdiness is not only about the materials used but also about the form. Battery life is another detail that is so far from what you can currently get on a Garmin or Amazfit top of the line watches (which can last for at least two weeks). -
Epic's Tim Sweeney calls Google 'crazy,' says 'Apple must be stopped'
Let’s bring this to a more traditional brick and mortar store concept.
The logic of this guy is that he wants to have is products on sale at a Walmart or a Target but doesn’t want to pay any fee to be there, and even more absurd, he thinks he has the legitimate right to directly sell its products to Walmart customers and use its own payment system inside Walmart, without paying a cent to the retailer.
Yeah! I guess that makes sense in Sweeney’s surrealist world.
If he doesn’t want to pay a fee to Apple or Google he can simply build its own OS and hardware devices to run them, or simply do what many companies did… promote its services outside of the Apple and Google store. Have customers visit Epic’s website and create an Epic account if they wish. Pay directly to Epic and just log-in on the Epic game installed in an iOS or Android device. I did this for numerous services that I subscribe and it works.

"The “Ultra” industrial design is only slightly better than the original design in dealing with impacts but it’s still far from the robustness that you need with a Pro watch." AND THIS IS BASED ON THE VAST EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE WITH THE ULTRA FROM WATCHING THE APPLE LIVESTREAM.
"Sturdiness is not only about the materials used but also about the form." OH YES... THE FENIX 7'S TOUCHSCREEN MUST BE FAR MORE DURABLE AND ABUSABLE THAN THE ULTRA'S SLAB OF SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL.
Being profoundly passionate by Apple, its products and its design, and I’m an Apple user since 1991, doesn’t mean that you should blindly accept everything that they sell you. Apple design history is made of countless master pieces of Design but also has several drawbacks… which is fine and part of an evolutionary process.
My experience commenting the new Apple Watch design is based on my experience as an Apple Watch user, as a Pro watch user and also based on my 28 years of experience as a product designer where I got to know a couple of things about materials and form.
Believe me when I say that I sincerely hope they got the robustness of the Apple Watch design right this time. Let’s see how many protective cases for the Apple Watch Ultra will emerge in the coming months. -
Pixelmator Pro updates engine to improve PhotoShop file support
Pixelmator Pro is a great app and it offers reliable results. I use it on a daily basis to do work that I previously did on Photoshop.
Photoshop might still be the lighthouse of photo editing apps but, I dare to say that at least 80% of Photoshop users will most probably be more than ok with Pixelmator Pro features.
