Good Lord, I knew the ardent Apple lovers would oppose this. 

You're all forgetting that the EU did the same thing for microUSB in 2008/2009. This isn't new. 

Of course Apple will gripe and groan about it because their phones don't come with a charger and they want to sell you one. 

Most phones sold today have a USB-C port. This stalwart, hold-out attitude from Apple for accepting industry standards is a carry over from Apple of the 90s. It's fascinating. 

In the almost-12 year history of the iPad, that has never been 'normal behaviour' - nor has it been normal behaviour in any other device.

I have no doubt Apple will have a fix, given enough time. It's really inexcusable - the nauseating Apple foamers don't have to defend them, yet they are, and no doubt they'll be full of renewed praise once there's a fix and say it was Apple's plan all along etc.

And what of the satellite calling function???

With the big antennas on traditional satellite phones, I have no idea how that rumor gained traction. You can't beat physics. 

It's just what there is from every other single iPhone update ever - faster, better screen, and a nicer camera.

Stick to those predictions and you'll win verbatim.
