One of the core critiques of AI/Machine Learning is that the problems most machine learning projects are trying to solve are not really ones that make life better for most people. By focusing its AI efforts on accessibility, it would seem that Apple has heard that and is trying to do things differently. Of course, the timing with the Apple event today isn’t a coincidence, but its research direction is commendable.
