  • Sony, Bang & Olufsen combatting Apple AirPods with new wireless earbuds

    EngDev said:
But but but — “AirPods are too expensive and have bad battery life!” Oops, yeah now they’re looking even better.
I can't speak for these new products, but AirPods just don't have good sound.  They're cheap earbuds that have been made wireless.
Personally I think they have great sound for what they are (i.e. such a tiny speaker and tiny battery working over Bluetooth). Anyone who wants brilliant heavenly sound quality wouldn't be buying this type of product anyway.

  • Video: Stop force closing all apps on your iPhone, it's a waste of time

The following happens to me on a weekly basis: all of a sudden Safari won't load a webpage - it will just sit there teasing me with its tiny blue progress line. So I close a bunch of apps and when I return to Safari the page loads lickety-split. I have a ton of tabs open, which may or may not also cause a problem. But hey, the 'experts' keep telling me it's pointless to close apps, so my experience must be bs right?!

  • Hackers obtained LastPass customer data vaults in recent data breach

If you remove the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th occurrence of the word “that”, the reading  experience will be more fluid. For example, the following sentence has 3 occurrences and, as a result, is slightly awkward for the reader:

While the company claims that it would be highly unlikely that the hackers could decrypt the data, it warns users that they could be targeted by phishing or social engineering attacks.

Just remove them all. The sentence still conveys the same meaning but is less jarring:

While the company claims it would be highly unlikely the hackers could decrypt the data, it warns users they could be targeted by phishing or social engineering attacks.”

(The 3rd and 4th occurrences are quotes so should remain.)

  • Apple Music marketing exec Bozoma Saint John talks diversity in new interview

That's a very nice choice of photo...
Seriously. She's a beautiful woman in many ways and THATS the photo you use? Would you want someone to do that to YOU?

    come on, man.

Im sure she's a breath of fresh air st Apple. And not because of her ethnicity. Because she's an amazing human being. look up her life. A genuinely good person in a world full of fakes, liars, and wolves.

I hope she is blessed much in her career and her life.

If that's a photo from the conference then that's probably the most topical one to use. Yes, the picture doesn't do her justice, but that's just how it goes, and I speak as someone who is about as photogenic as a week-old zombie.
No dude. Sorry. There are plenty more very current photos to use. At least AI updated to a slightly better one.
Nothing like picking the worst still frames from a video to use.

Seriously, I'm no fan and was a bit put off by parts of her demo at wwdc but I think she, as anyone would, deserves better than this.
I have absolutely no idea whatsoever what all of you are complaining about. I must be looking at a different photo because, I see nothing wrong with it. It's a nice photo of a beautiful woman. Also, why are you so obsessed with a single photograph on a tech site anyway?

  • Apple changes iPhone 6s pricing and storage options, cuts 64GB iPhone SE to $449

    mobius said:
The SE is only £10 cheaper in the UK. I don't blame Apple for the smaller reduction; I blame Brexit.

Thanks leave voters, thanks a lot!
Where have you seen it is £10 cheaper, it used to be £359 now it's £379, so its gone up by £20. Same with iPhone 7, iPad's etc

    http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-se/16gb-space-grey

I'm talking about the 64GB version. The 16GB version has gone up, and is pretty much non-existent to me due to the low storage. I have a friend who has very small hands and she was interested in getting one. I told her to wait until the new phones were announced in the hopes it would be significantly reduced in price. £10 is a bit pathetic TBH.
  • Two more Galaxy Note 7 phones catch fire, Samsung allegedly stonewalling users

    wood1208 said:
Nothing against Samsung but if these genuine exploding Galaxy 7 continues than(at least) better FAA restricts Galaxy 7 to carry on board of passenger plane. Airport Security can confiscate it like other materials not allowed on plane for the safety of passengers and millions dollar plane and if plane crashes over populated area than those innocent people.
You do realise that would entail searching every person and bag and then identifying which phones were actually Note 7's rather than a similar looking phone. I'm not sure that is practical given everyone has a smartphone, and some carry more than one.

  • Reported 2016 MacBook Pro graphics issues likely caused by third-party software [u]

    mobius said:
Other reports claim it may be related to File Vault 2. Couple that with your own mention of the Photos app, I'm not sure there's a strong enough case to be made (yet) to say it's "likely third party software" at fault.

It does seem troubling that such an issue could strike these new models so soon after release, and especially after similar graphics problems had impacted some MBP 2011-13 models.

One wonders just how much emphasis goes on Q and A these days. Perhaps they need to spend a bit more time and money on that. Otherwise it's going to cause damage to Apple's reputation at a time when patience is already wearing thin with many pro users.

"In a serious case chronicled by a MacRumorsforum member Jan Becker, a new 15-inch MacBook Pro configured with an optional AMD Radeon Pro 460 GPU encountered trouble and ultimately crashed while transcoding video in Adobe Premiere Pro. Becker consequently took the machine into an Apple store for replacement."

"The incident did not go unnoticed by Apple. Becker said he received a call from the company's headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., where a team of engineers asked him to help replicate the glitch over the phone and requested access to the affected laptop for further investigation."

    ^^^

All part of that "Q and A" you thought smart to bring up.

Apple's is from cradle to grave. Good on them.

    After the fact.

  • iPhone 7 solid-state home button works on capacitive touch, gloved users beware

Why not use the on/off switch on the side to activate the screen?
Why not read the article before posting?

With a physically depressible home button, gloved hands can wake iPhone, return to home, invoke Siri and perform other OS actions with ease. Not so with iPhone 7.
