External drive support in macOS Sonoma is partially broken, and it's probably Apple's faul...
I use a SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD for Time Machine. I'm not sure what update, but if I leave the drive plugged in my MacBook Pro freezes and I have to rebook. It's very frustrating.
