Inside Apple Music: how you can get the most out of Apple's music streaming service
What about the Music app for Mac?They removed the ability to edit track listings in music already loaded on an iPhone that iTunes had.
Before, in iTunes, I could easily correct spelling, or change an album name slightly on the iPhone so it would sit in the correct alphabetical order.
For instance, some recordings from Germany will show “Symphonie Nr. 8”, when I prefer Symphony No.8.
Now after altering the name on my Mac, I have to delete the cording from my iPhone, then reinstall it. Annoying. -
HomeKit may keep some Wemo devices alive after shutdown in 2026
AppleZulu said:My advice is to get rid of any and all wemo devices sooner rather than later.I was an early adopter of Wemo, based on their assurances that they would be adding HomeKit compatibility with an update. Even got it in writing from their tech support. Foolishly, I bought and installed light switches as well as plug adapters. The only thing consistent about Wemo was that their devices were always flaky,All that’s to say it’s no surprise that Belkin would just abandon support for their crappy devices. If you have any left, I would say don’t waste your time trying to string them along under HomeKit alone. Ditch them as soon as you can and you’ll never look back.I have a big floor lamp with an impossible to reach cord switch. Tried 3 or 4 supposedly HomeKit compatible lamp outlets.
With the WEMO, I was able to connect, but it kept dropping out of the Home app. I’d reconnect. It dropped. MULTIPLE TIMES! Maddening!
Returned it. JUNK. I gave up.
It’s no surprise they’re abandoning the WEMO product line.
Finally tried again and picked up a Lutron Caséta dimmable plug that has two outlets.(already had a Caséta Hub for a bunch of lamps plugged into an outlet box I built)
It’s a lot bulkier, is a bit more expensive, but connected easily and works flawlessly. -
Trump Mobile's made-in-US iPhone 17 competitor is really made in China
jungmark said:Shocker, he lied . I bet many of his cult will start looking for China, USA.Urban legend would have it that the Japanese once built a town named “Scotland” so they could bottle Scotch that was “Made in Scotland”.Seems like the same M.O. here. -

FireWire may finally be dead in macOS 26 & Apple isn't looking back
That’s a shame. I liked FireWire and still have a few devices. A magneto optical drive and a Nikon slide scanner, maybe an old hard drive, tooRecently, I was thinking about getting the scanner up and running again, stringing together a bunch of adaptors from FireWire 400 to Thunderbolt.
I still have a couple of old Macs (2012 MacBook Pro and a 1Ghz Titanium PowerBook) that should be able to handle it, though. The PowerBook has a FireWire port!Still have the original drivers and old versions of Photoshop all loaded on them, too! -
Couple steals back their own car after tracking an AirTag in it
humbug1873 said:Kind of fits my personal experience with UK police. They are lazy. Once I literally had to become a nuisance to that police officer in order to get what I wanted (as in a simple contact information for a hit&run driver that smashed my car). A phone call every 30 minutes for 3 days and he finally got his ass off the couch and actually did his job.
we were driving in the Bronx, some clown rear-ended us at a traffic light, making a small dent.
I tried to get the guy to pull over, he just laughed at me. I took a photo of his license plate.
We were ACROSS the street from a Police Station! went to the station to report. The cop we spoke to said we should go BACK to the scene… across the street… and call 911. We’re standing right there AT the Police Station!
went back, waited 1/2 hour. No cops. We left.

Car makers reject CarPlay Ultra as an Apple overreach
My wife and I are not car fans. We lease a Honda out of necessity for work.If it didn’t support Apple CarPlay, we would look elsewhere when our lease is over.
CarPlay vanilla or CarPlay Ultra really doesn’t matter as long as our iPhones connect seamlessly.
My only wish for CarPlay would be the music player interface and the way it displays music information, which currently stinks.
It’s clearly designed for pop music with extremely short album, “song” titles and track information.
The fact that track titles are only about 30 characters, on only one line of text, while the playback progress bar uses the entire width of the screen is ridiculous. -
