What you need to know: Apple's iCloud Photos and Messages child safety initiatives
Apple needs to keep its eyes out of my photos period. I generally trust Apple when it comes to privacy, but in this instance, I'm 100% against their stance. Scanning personal documents to help organization, direct you somewhere specific, or to read text via Siri is very different than looking for criminal behavior. I'm not at all comfortable with computer AI scanning the population looking for criminals. We should not accept a ROBOCOP or SKYNET solution to crime.
If Apple indeed goes forward with this initiative I will be cancelling my iCloud Photos subscription and go back to synching over a cable. -
Bill Maher declares Apple CSAM tools a 'blatant constitutional breach'
Let's say I buy a brand new house shortly after it's been built. Unbeknownst to me, a person from the company that built the house is hiding inside. Their sole job function is to make sure I'm not doing anything illegal. They can't see me, but if they hear certain sounds they can report me to the authorities. I live in the house for years without ever discovering this hidden person.
I doubt most anyone would be ok with this situation once they knew about the person living in their house. This person didn't break in. They couldn't see me. But it's still a very obvious that a breach of privacy has occurred. I'd imagine most people would feel violated in this situation.
Apple has a lot of damage control to do if they are adamant about moving forward with this technology. -
Nintendo killing 'Dr. Mario World' iOS game in November
This is a real shame. I've played Dr. Mario World nearly every day since it's release. maybe I'm part of the problem though since I never bought an in-app purchase for the game. I'd much prefer to just buy mobile games outright. Just my luck that my two favorite Nintendo mobile games (Miitomo and Dr. Mario World) have been cancelled. -
Apple says hardware leaks harm consumers
I 100% agree with Apple. I hate the deluge of iPhone and Mac articles proclaiming to know what's going to be released next. I never read them or make any purchasing plans because of them. The ONLY source that is trusted with new release hardware/software is Apple themselves. All the rest are just guesses and lies that create expectations that are completely out of line with Apple's actual projection of its business. I urge all, to ignore the "leaks" and just focus on what Apple actually announces and releases. -

I don't know about everyone else, but It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is already showing on my Apple TV+ app. I watched it last night!
