So much for a periscope lens (with continuous zoom).  Analysts and rumors sites sure missed the mark on that one.  Worst (non)event ever.
i don't think so, i think it's to do with yields and quality controls, my thoughts is apple is not yet satisfied with that, i think it'll be in next years pro max or ultra

  • Three iPhone 15 models rumored to get Thunderbolt/USB4 connector

this to me points to only one thing: Apple finally taking the EU seriously for once and also taking their previous letter of complaint that "any artificial (software) limitations the common port" are "not in line with the regulation" to heart. thus acting accordingly, so my suspicion is that all iPhone 15's will have fast data transfer and fast charging / power delivery / quick charge etc.

In the end this is better for the user, and in the long run better for the planet.
If only USA could catch up to the laws and regulations of the EU on these things....

  • Apple's iMessage gets a reprieve from EU digital gatekeeper law

The EU is getting ridiculous. They’re stinging from the Irish tax case loss, companies like Nokia & Ericsson becoming irrelevant and the fact US tech companies are responsible/required for virtually 100% of computing tech. You can’t build a computer or mobile device without at least several technologies from US  companies (CPU, GPU, OS).

I saw an article today that EuroHPC has built another supercomputer using AMD EPYC processors. I’ve previously said the US should retaliate against German automakers (maybe a tariff or force them to open their gatekeeper infotainment systems). Maybe they should stop selling processors to the EU unless they’re only used in consumer PCs. Let’s see EU countries try to build there supercomputers without help from the US.

Yeah. And what would the US do without access to ASML?
haha yes, i was just about to say that! With that logic we the Dutch should also block EUV and DUV lithography-machine exports by ASML to US companies like TexasInstruments, Qualcomm, Intel and AMD, just like the US gov't has forced us to do this year against Chinese companies!

  • New iMac Magic Keyboard with Touch ID available for individual sale

Had hoped to get a magic track pad after sale for my 24" iMac but seems a shame to ruin the aesthetic with silver when the rest if blue.
if you already own an Apple Silicon 24 inch iMac, you might be able to order it in the matching color from the apple store location you originally bought it from, by asking for a manager and explaining the situation in person, but availability maybe sparse to non-existent, also of note is there is no official policy of allowing this, you have to have luck with the apple genius/specialist to get it.

urghhh i really wanted to upgrade to the pro max for the usb c.

but i really cant justify it. disappointing.

    next year i will

better i think, as next year they'll pass usb 3 speeds onto non pro's, while pro's will get thunderbolt 3/4 i think, if apple's usual pattern in these things holds up with passing down enhancements over time, also, they've really got no choice but to do that next year, as in december 2024 the EU's common port comes into effect. yes technically apple could try to wait until 2025, as they introduce phones in september and the law will only apply for new devices introduced from december 2024 onwards, but i think it's a save bet that next years phones will get fester charging and faster usb all around....
