  • Apple doesn't care about games, long-time Apple Arcade developers say

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Apple is focusing on the wrong platform. Trying to break into the PC/console market is going to be hard and expensive. The Mac just isn't viewed as a viable gaming platform to PC and console players/devs but the mobile a whole other story. It already has a large player base and lots of great games that make an obscene amount of money each month. If Apple made it easier to port games from iOS to tvOS/macOS it could market it's other devices to those gamers.

Which do you think is going to be the more successful pitch:

"Hello PC/console players and devs, you should consider playing on a Mac. We have lots of great games and the we keep getting more!"

    or

"Hey, mobile players, you know how you like to play Genshin/Nikke/Wuthering Waves on your iPhone or iPad? Did you know that you can also play them on your Apple TV or Mac? And because you use your Apple ID you can seamlessly move between devices. If you think games look good on a phone or table they're gonna look even better on a Mac!"

I would kill to play Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail on my Apple TV 😫

  • Apple is pushing hard to make the Mac relevant in gaming

I really wish Apple would focus more on their mobile games rather than try and compete with the console and PC platforms. They’re never going to be competitive with either of those platforms but the mobile market is a whole other story. Some of the most lucrative games in the industry can be played on Apple hardware. All Apple has to do is make it easier to port games from the iOS/ipadOS to tvOS and Mac OS. Imagine playing Genshin Impact on your iMac at work while you’re on your break then on your iPad (that’s what I use) while you commute back home then on the Apple TV (they just need to bump up the specs to be at least as powerful as an iPhone) that is in your living room. They have a golden opportunity to become the premier platform for mobile gaming and sell a lot more hardware by marketing the Apple TV and Macs as legitimate gaming devices.
