Apple's new iCloud+ tiers are too much for consumers, too little for professionals
The best alternative I've found to iCloud+ (still use it), Dropbox, and Frame.io is a QNAP NAS. With its Qsync function, I get the best of all worlds: 1) sync across MacOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. 2)Versioning. 3) Multiple users and directories. 4) Full control over data. The caveats are maintaining backups (scheduled), security (WireGuard VPN router), and uptime (UPS, redundancy).
If we're talking about managing creative works and collaborating, a well configured NAS beats any 3rd party cloud service if you have a fast network bandwidth. This approached is easier with the new iPhone 15 Pro external drive functionality....plug that drive into NAS and it can auto-import new footage to your preferred directory.

Facebook developing smartwatch with health, messaging features
Bring on the heat. Apple's watch is fancy, trendy, and powerful, but Google's FitBit has been very resourceful, and in many respects, more usable. If Facebook's watch can last at least 4 days on a single charge like the FitBit, it has a chance at eating some smart watch market on the advantage of efficiency alone. I'm sorry for any iWatch user that must charge their watch every 24 hours...don't we have enough to manage in life? -
Apple Notes in iOS 18 looks to up the ante with Microsoft OneNote
VictorMortimer said:People actually use OneNote?I mean, the only 'note' app I've ever seen a need for on Windoze is Notepad, and that's just because it's the closest thing to TextEdit on a real computer. If I see OneNote on a Mac, I just delete it.

Apple TV with a camera is the rumor that will never die
Surely Apple has been testing cameras in Apple TV for several feature ideas:- Exercise/Interactive games.
- AR - Placing self in different environments on screen
- Facetime
Amazon has been successful with their Echo Show (thought limited in features) with the addition of a display and camera. It provides the essential Fire TV features, video calls, and works great for checking in on kids at home.

Apple Watch loses steam as global smartwatch shipments dropped in 2024
Apple watch is a material beauty, but having to charge it daily (unless you own the Ultra) spoils the experience. Maybe this realization has risen over the hype. I get almost a full week on my Fitbit (Sense v2), and it tracks my sleep quality in addition to the common sensors, notifications, and call features. It may not be as flashy, but it sure has more stamina. For me, the silent alarm clock with smart awake is beneficial. I like rejecting a call without having to approach the phone. I Google's acquisition of Fitbit would get people's attention away from Apple, but Google smothered the Fitbit catalog with their own Pixel models, ignoring some key marketing points of Charge and Sense models.

Spirit Airlines pays off victim after Apple Watch proves her luggage was stolen
"We issued a reimbursement check to the guest as a courtesy, even though we are not currently aware of any evidence that any Spirit employee was involved," said an airline spokesperson. "We take any allegation of this nature seriously, and we are investigating."
No way Spirit Airlines is going to shell out money without being "aware" that they were responsible. The work schedule, footage, and geotagging are substantial evidence. -

Apple Vision Pro gets Bono documentary for first feature-length immersive video
Of the the groundbreaking features that could be at display, with actions, sci-fi, and CGI, this is extremely underwhelming to their majority tech-savy customers who actually own a Vision Pro. This tribute could have waited for some other nearby memorial event. Maybe we need a gen-z and millennial on the board after all. I wonder if Bob Iger and Al Gore pushed for this.
