Do not click on unexpected emails from DocuSign
Was going to sell an automobile to Carvana. They made an acceptable offer, sent a driver to come get it for the usual inspection and payment. I had a title document ready to sign; and was prepared to take their money. Guy hands me an iPad and says, "here. sign all these documents using Docusign." I refused. "I have a marketable clear title, and here's the car. I'll sign the former, if you give me the money." He says, "I can't. Company requires this." "OK, skippit. I'll sell it elsewhere." Drive dude empathized, says he gets that a lot, and he warned the company. I'm not ever using Docusign.
Edit: fairly, the scammer here may have been Carvana itself. Betcha their documents they wanted signed were some sort of warranty, or waiver of my rights. Nope. You were given a right of inspection, and I need not make any representation other than the title document...that you are free to inspect and verify. -
HomeKit may keep some Wemo devices alive after shutdown in 2026
This is a prime, specific example of why this smart home crap is crap. I’ve bought my last Belkin product.
I drank the kool-aid on this, and now really regret it. Fortunately, I didn't go all-in, so my damage is limited to one installed light switch in the wall that really was difficult to install. When it fails, I will replace it with a traditional electromechanical switch like was there for 70+ years without a hitch. The wall plugs will just go in the trash.
Funny, but Belkin says they will stop "supporting" the product. They keep using that word. I do not think it means what they think it means. -
Apple Smart Home Hub release pushed back to 2026
If this is a device you are eagerly looking forward, I am happy for you. Having more choices is always a good thing. I do want you to eventually have your wish come true.
I am disappointed that this is a priority for Apple seemingly to the exclusion of other projects. I can think of many other things I would prefer to see - things like an ATV with an OTA tuner (ATSC3?); a new Airport with an onboard Apple branded VPN; updated Beats Fit Pro (those wingtips actually work well). None of these things seems to be even remotely on the radar for Apple. Heck, even something as simple as a hardware cover on my iPhone camera lenses (a little slide device in the case) would be welcome. That the smart home stuff is all reliant on AI that doesn't seem to work is all the more disappointing. To me. YMMV.

Apple rumored to release iOS 26 at WWDC, instead of iOS 19
Sorta been waiting on this. No way to tell at a glance what is the "latest" version of macOS and iOS and PadOS and tvOS (and I guess vision OS). What does Apple plan to do with point updates (say macOS26.5) that doesn't ship to 2027. Is that...now macOS27?
And maybe let's skip the crack marketing team's recommendation for CA place names. Tell me which came first: Monterey or Mojave? Had to look it up, didn't you? -

Ping 2.0? Apple Music revamp rumored to downplay Connect social network feature
rcfa said:Frankly all the social media hype reminds me of the CB radio craze in the 70s and early 80s.
No value added other than for advertisers.
How many more stupid kitty memes on Facebook can anyone endure before realizing they are missing real life as they stare on their stupid screens?
Apple could be a trend setter by divorcing themselves from social media entirely "consider it a 3rd party opportunity", and instead focus on P2P simplified, bring cloud computing home (IPv6, slightly beefed up AppleTV with encrypted cloud backup would do the trick). Of course, that would take balls, and those have gone missing with Steve; if today were the introduction of the iPhone, I'm sure they'd be working with Adobe on mobileFlash, too; instead of calling Flash out as the pile of crap it always was.
Facebook etc. are the AOL of our time. Open standards that produce real value endure, the rest become Fad 3.0... -
Apple's iOS 10 makes iPad a 'Home Hub,' expands HomeKit appliance support
Makes total sense in new homes. Only. -
Some users complain about poor phone call sound on Apple's iPhone 7 & 7 Plus
howie_isaacks said:Here's an out there idea... Why not call AppleCare instead of complaining to a blog? I know that's such a hard concept to comprehend, but maybe these people should try that first. The sound quality on my iPhone 7 is awesome. I have no complaints, and if I did, I would contact Apple about it first. -
Oppenheimer: Apple 'lacks the courage to lead the next generation of innovation'
There is a ring of truth to this. My AppleWatch suddenly had battery issues under watchOS3. Airplay stopped working in some apps under tvOS10.0.1. It seems one of the best parts of macOS, Time Machine, is going to be outsourced to third party routers. iCloud is...unintuitive at best; the desktop file storage thingy is an absolute hot mess. AppleTV has an app coming that does...what now? Provide a sales platform for others? Airpods are available...when? But hey, the macbookpro is uber thin! and USB-C reasons! and iOS allows me to get spam calendar things, but not delete emails all at once. D
Don't get me started on Siri. Who actually uses that?
And here's an ad for a samesung VR device with people enjoying it.
