  • Apple could have sold me an iPhone SE 4, but it won't sell me the iPhone 16e

So the complaint here is that the entry level model lacks some of the features of the regular and premium models. Interesting.
No, the complaint is that Apple is prioritising as-yet uninteresting AI and not features that the author (and myself) actually care about or would get more use out of, including: MagSafe, more/better cameras, brighter display; and Dynamic Island instead of the ugly notch, to name but a few.

  • iPadOS 26 multitasking is more Mac-like with menubar, better pointer and more

There is zero reason why they can’t do multiple user accounts.  The don’t do it because they don’t want you to share iPads.  They want you to buy one for each member of the family.  It’s shameful.

  • iPadOS 26 at WWDC 25: Bold design rumors, Multitasking changes, more

Is it just me (always possible!) or does this roundup make this year's WWDC seem more like "housekeeping" as opposed to some real reno work or getting new furniture? Not that any of the above is bad, not at all, lots of little welcome changes, but it all feels like nibbling at the edges. I mean, when the "big" headline (thus far) is that Apple will use the design language it developed for VisionOS and apply it more broadly across devices, it seems like excitement is in very short supply.
Been like that for years.  I stopped watching Apple presentations 3 or 4 years ago when they became at least 50% insufferable filler from annoying presenters (including “good moaning” Tim) about existing products, most of which don’t interest me.  Better to wait til it’s over and skip all the boring bits, I.e. most of it.

Or watch a Samtime recap on YouTube.

  • iOS 26 is here with Liquid Glass redesign, new Camera, and Apple Intelligence promises

The UI screenshots going round look terrible.  A lot of work needed to tone this mess down.

Why would I want to be able to see through my controls?!  The entire idea is stupid.  There had better be a system wide "turn off transparency" option.

    Christ in hell that’s bad!

Looks like we’re in for a whole year of Apple developing this throughout iOS 26’s lifetime.  Maybe by iOS 27 it’ll be polished.  Maybe.

I don’t want a more computationally demanding (battery draining) UI either.

  • After years of rumors, Apple now has a production prototype iPhone fold

Foldable phones are notoriously fragile.  No chance in hell it could be as durable as a regular model.

Apple seems hell bent on pushing products that few people want of late.

  • AppleCare One can cover devices up to four years after purchase

So only one year longer than AppleCare used to provide when it was an up-front payment, and less than was possible previously (it was possible to extend coverage of my 2019 MacBook Pro into the fifth year if I wanted to).  Plus I’m sure there are other catches.

In the voice of Tim Cook: “That’s just incredible!”.

  • Tim Cook isn't going to get fired, and Steve Jobs isn't rolling over in his grave

I mean, if you have to deny it…   :#  :D

Seems like an overly long defensive article that’s completely unnecessary by its own central argument, so what’s the point?  It’s like: “look away, nothing to see here”.

From my perspective and observations. people don’t like Tim Cook, not because his business acumen is bad or anything (it’s not) but if anything because it’s probably too good.  He’s a dull, soulless logistics guy doing exactly what the shareholders want: maximising profit.  Fair enough having someone like that in the company…but the leader?

There’s just something really off-putting (and sleep-inducing) about the way he speaks too.  I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch a keynote in years because of it.  Not the sort of qualities you want in a CEO I would’ve thought, but criticism of Apple definitely goes deeper than such superficial trivialities.  Ultimately people find themselves getting squeezed amid a cost-of-living crisis.

  • Apple seeks stay on allowing external links & purchases during injunction violation appeal...

    Don’t be evil, Apple.

As for us users, take the effort to buy your subscriptions outside the app where possible and you’ll likely pay less.  A small bit of effort but it goes a long way when you add up the savings over time.
