New HomePod, 'AirPods 2,' death of 3D Touch all expected in 2019
Personally I'm extremely skeptical that 3D Touch would be deprecated.
Apple has always had interface paradigms that languished in obscurity for years before picking up.
For example, most of my friends still don't know about tap-to-click on the trackpad. I couldn't live without it. And another example is how the gyro was largely never used until the current crop of AR applications have needed it. Well, raise-to-wake has been around for a couple years but that's still a decade of dormant gyros prior to that (if not 2 decades). -
Apple's Tim Cook flying to meet Chinese officials later in May - report
You guys seem a bit oblivious about what's important to Apple's executives (and likely most of the rest of the employees). They don't care about getting an extra billion dollars. The do what they want to do. And what they want to do is alleviate some of the unspeakably insane BS that we are all inflicting upon each other.
Incidentally, doing that also happens to make them billions of dollars. It's not the other way around. -

Apple should do more to combat smartphone addiction, insists iPod-Father Tony Fadell
This proposal is fine, but the time may not be now. Apple has been seeding the tools for users to get healthy. The screen can dim at night to reduce blue light. Apple Watch encourages fitness. Meditation apps have completely run away with the awards and features in the App Store. And with AirPods and HomePod, we're moving away from screens gradually. The most logical timing for a feature like this is after these trends have had a bit more time to take hold. -
President-elect Trump considers potential Apple manufacturing in US a 'real achievement'
Someone should just explain to Trump that 99% of the value is in the software and 95% of that is made in the US. He'd love that -
Apple investor's shareholder proposal could force racial diversity among leadership
Remember they have Dr. Dre -
Apple includes shareholder proposal on diversity in proxy statement, advises vote against
This is an important issue, and one on which Apple has done (IMO) an exemplary job. Tim Cook coming out as homosexual was a watershed event for America. It was, however, one that followed up on decades of leadership in the realm of respecting homosexuals by Apple. The work with Beats and Apple Music has been work that has multiplied the company's exposure to African-Americans. When you look at the company's marketing videos from recent years it's clear that the company respects Americans from all walks of life. And their hiring within retail has also been incredibly diverse - I suspect that the other stores in those high-rent neighborhoods don't have as much diversity in the staff. Dr. Dre is an executive as far as I'm concerned. He is pretty far behind the scenes for now, yes. But he's always been a role model who encouraged people to work hard and be responsible. So that's where I think we're at with this issue. You can't make someone an executive of a unique company overnight. But it's definitely coming.
