  • Added to the things you listed there is also a faster system bus and more expansion. I know this may not sound like a lot, but some people need PCI slots.
  • I still say May. New TiBooks and iBooks. Maybe even a GHz TiBook...
  • These specs sound incredibly realistic to me. If you notice, USB 2 doesn't make an appearence in ANY line until July 2002 (which is when the new mobos will obviously be introduced). The TiBook and iBooks coming in May look like they have the same mo…
  • 5 days is nothing really. Probably just a component shortage.
  • I'm sure Apple will have an innovative way of addressing the recharing issue.

  • I'm actually thinking Apple is going to crank the TiBook up to 1 GHz. I think this is why they have held off with the already available 800 MHz 7445. In addition, the iBook will probably stay with the G3, to keep costs low and slice $100 off each …
  • 600 and 700 MHz G4s.
  • You can't base predictions of future chip speeds on past motherboard architectures. The G4 has had the same motherboard since January of 2001, with some minor tweaks here and there. Come July it will be 1.5 years old. What do you think Apple's Power…
  • I'd say at least 1.5 GHz G5s but MWNY.

  • With 125,000 iMacs sold and 5,000 going out the door every day, I really don't think Apple's earnings are going to suck. The iMac and portable lines will sustain not so hot PowerMac sales, although the Dual GHz model hasn't been selling as bad as so…

  • Maybe a QT6 situation update, some more demos, but I don't think we'll see a G5 until MWNY. NAB just isn't a fitting event for a G5 announcement. Seybold was perfect for the G4, since it was a graphics design based event and the G4 sped up apps like…

  • I disagree. I think the iMac team designed the new iMac with the future in mind, and designed the base to easily accomodate a 17 inch display in the future. It's definitely heavy enough.
  • If the LCD shortage keeps up, I doubt we'll see a 17 inch iMac this year. The price would just be too hgh. I think this model hinges on the LCD market and how it pans out. As for a speedbump, I think we'll see one at Apple Expo Paris with 133 MHz mo…
  • Apple Event in May: New PowerBooks. 733, and 867 MHz G4 7445s WWDC: 10.2 MWNY: PowerMac G5 (7500) at 1, 1.2 and Dual 1.4 GHz, new iBooks with 667 and 733 MHz G4s. iMac prices fall back to normal. Seybold: New special effects software softw…

  • Apple will do a rackmount this year and they will do it right. Mark my words.
  • I skipped over that last tidbit, sorry. But I do think Apple will take aim at the rackmount market with its PowerMac Server line.
  • The SERVERS would be rackmountable. Sure the towers are, but I'm talking a 1 inch thin rackmount for higher ed and small business. The towers will remain a combination of form and function.
  • Desktop PowerMacs = tower. PowerMac Servers= rackmount.
  • This may sound obvious, but I think the G5 tower enclosure will be like no tower we've ever seen before. Kinda like when Apple made the jump from beige G3 tower to B&W G3 tower. (From which Apple still uses the same case design)
  • I don't think Bluetooth will be dongle-based for long. Eventually Apple will probably build it into the logicboard of all their machines. A USB dongle sticking out is just so un-Apple-like. The included mouse and keyboards will then evolve into wire…
