Amen. We will be amazed. I think some of the things you point out are illustrated by the fact Apple has not even bothered updating the motherboard on this revision. The PowerMac engineers (and Steve) are obviously more concerned with the n…

Who knows, maybe those 1.6 or 1.8 GHz G4 speeds from that "Apple Hotline chat" weren't a total lie???

JD, I agree. ... man, I'm saying that more and more often...

And I'm sure people close to an Apple store could walk in and pick one up this week...

Even if these machines are trickling in foreign countries around Seybold, remember that if Steve announces G5s at MWT that they probably won't ship until a month after that, which would be late April, or possibly even early May for the high end. …

Hehe, I was just about to say that Fran.

I don't think Apple could have waited for 3 months with no PowerMac sales. They had to have something to keep their pro sales somewhat afloat.

Added to the things you listed there is also a faster system bus and more expansion. I know this may not sound like a lot, but some people need PCI slots.

OS X = slow basically depends on the machine you're running it on. On my iBook/500, yeah, it could be faster, but on my TiBook/500 with 512 MB RAM and on my friends 867 tower OS X flies.

If you need it now, buy it. If you can wait, I'd wait. This is only a stopgap.

Well, if midrange G4 towers are announced at the same time as the new G5s, it is possible that they could ship with Firewire, while the new G5s have Firewire 2. This could be another distinction between the two to justify higher pricing for the G5, …

JD, I completely agree. Very well, thought out post. As for everyone bitching about how "Macs are slow" bla bla bla, you're comparing BRAND NEW Intel chips with nearly 8 month old hardware from Apple. Yeah, that's pretty old, but we're in for a …

I could see how some of the G3 iMac rumors could have been started by Apple back in December and January before MWSF so we'd be blown away by G4s and SuperDrives. The same may be happening now and Apple may have G5s up its sleeve...

I don't know who these dealers are who keep getting inside specs, but when I worked for Comp USA we didn't get specs for new systems into our point of sale systems until the DAY STEVE ANNOUNCED THEM. I've also never heard of Apple just casually…

Is it just me or do those GF4 boxes look kinda like Nintendo 64 game boxes... ? (Bigger of course)

Is Apple even doing anything special for this Seybold? Usually they don't do a keynote or much fanfare for the spring Seybold. Does anyone have info about this? If Steve isn't speaking, I doubt we'll see anything. My bets are on a special event i…

Weird. Yeah, I had to set one up and just looked and thats what it said. I'm sure they'd all have the same shipping OS on them.

The 14 inch iBook boots up with 10.1.2 5R43e or somthin like that. I can't remember. First time I've seen lower case letters in the build numbers though...
