I have always had great faith in TDK media, from when I used to put albums onto audio tapes. Their CDs are also pretty rock solid and quite cheap if you buy bulk.

Not much it seems. The only time I ever apparently max out both the processors on my 867DP is when doing a Cinema 4D render. Everything open at the same time...? ...Not a problem.

Me again. I reckon you'd be better off with the DP. The difference is only 66Mhz (plus a whole additional processor) and the RAM WILL make a difference (even if the processors can't fully support the DDR solution). The DP come with 10.2 which alo…

I just bought the 867 DP. I was thinking the same thing, but I decided to go with the GeForce MX until the ATi 9700 comes out. I think this will be far more valuable if you need a good card, and you can always sell the 4MX on eBay to make up some…

Sinclair Spectrum 16k for games. My Dad had a Mac Plus later (still works! - used to play Dr Who and the Daleks).

What is wrong with price cuts? ('Bout time if you ask me, considering you can get a SmartDisk Firefly for £90 at Apple UK which uses the same Toshiba drive mechanism)

Anyone...?

Is it not just hold down the 'x' button on the keyboard?

Do you download manually, or use ChimeraKnight? (Which is available on Versiontracker, and which is a fantastic script for anyone wanting to test the nightly builds btw.)

OK, I had a look through the PDFs. The older iBook doesn't seem to have a take-apart section (weird). Sorry.

I have some of those PDFs. I'll have a look through them and send you one if you're lucky...

Have you tried making a disk image of the software restore CDs that came with your iMac? Insert them and use the disk copier tool in utilities to make a disk image of each of the restore CDs. You should then be able to open the disk image and ins…

I had this problem when I installed a second drive in the second drive bay of the new powermac (OS 10.2 DVD player 3.0) after setting the regions for the drive. I re-installed some of the system software (just the additional apps I think) and the pr…

Fixed. I had to hold PRAM keystrokes for two chimes, the first was loud (as before), but the second was quieter (weird). The chime is still fairly loud compared to rest of the system, but is more tolerable than before. Cheers all.

I tried resetting PRAM when my ears bled the first time , but it didn't seem to help. I'll give tham all another try though. Thanks guys.

And as Defiant said, I'll maybe download 10.2.1 first to see if that helps any. (Didn't realise it would be out so quick...)

OK thanks for the idea, I had a look for a shutdown items earlier in my attempt, but I guess it may be somewhere in the library. I'll have another look tonight. Applescript will be something simple like 'set vol=2' or something, yes? I'll keep yo…

Bit off topic, but I didn't want to create a new thread - Can anyone give me some information about the part numbers of components within Apple's machines (I know that the information is not freely available)? Specifically the new PowerMac G4 DP…

Not too sure about that (although it does support IPsec). I have just successfully installed a VPN client (cisco) on my Mac in 10.2. The VPNclient v3.6 is the only one that seemed to work (v3.5 didn't want to play - issues with kextload vs kmodload…
