You might be surprised at how a ble this little box is. I was blown away. I wasnt expecting it to become my main box.

Definately it would be better than a mini at encoding. I never bought this machine with that intention although for fun I did give it a try and was getting around 12fps with DivX. But quality wasn't the same as being frameserved.. so take it for wha…

fair enough.. only problem with comparing speeds with xvid is I'm not to sure on the current state of xvid being optimized for altivec.. you could watch at the link below to follow the development of the xvid quicktime component http://people.ee.…

Actualy whats so wrong with taking the archived dvd and burning it on his other burner? Some +r burners support bitsetting so the booktype is read as dvd-rom. makes for really good compatability.

I personally would not advise buying a mac to do any mpeg 4 ASP or AVC encoding from my own personal experience. I do my xvid and x264 encoding on an amd64 and use a mac mini for daily use and while I'm encoding. You really do miss applications lik…

i prefer firefox myself... by the way have any of you guys typed about:config in the address bar.. you can do alot of tweaking there and get some good speed boosts if your on a broadband connection

I don't see why anyone thinks an imac supporting a single G5 would be that hard ofa thing to do. the solution to the heat is as simple as what shuttle uses on their XPC products for the x86 market. a heat pipe. good example is a picture here htt…

I really don't see what loks so great about it to me.. but hey thats just my opinion and if you read up youll see open office has quite a few wins under its belt. but hey to each his own i think the better point is that people are finding they dont…

I'd have to say that open office has gained some traction on alot of fronts maybe not so much on the mac front yet but in due time.. it's really not a bad app and i mean on pc being able to export to pdf without having distiller is a pretty nice li…

i mean really klipsch isn't too expensive for a full setup or even a nice little 2.1 setup which due to constraints in how much room i have the klipsch promedia 2.1 is a very good deal for around 180.. look online you'll see a lot of good reviews

hate to sound like a rude kinda guy but its reasons like these that i stuck with mozilla on all my platforms. if your still stuck on safari i wish you the best of luck.

i hate to sorta go OT with this but mentioning safari just puts a bad taste in my mouth.. they really shoulda went with the mozilla crew

Seriously, i would recommend Corsair XMS series. I've used it in my 3 last machines, the 2 i built in the office and I'm using it in the 30 systems i just got to shoot a quote for. Corsair makes a very good product

I agree go look at M-Audio. see what suits your needs
