Thanks for your thoughts. Reassuring to know I'm not the only one. They are attaching rather than inserting the documents. I'm just wondering if this is a new thing with Leopard? It has not been a problem before, and only occurs when there is …

I know, it's the obvious solution, but am also stuck with EndNote (and the usual compatibility issues...)

Was actually about to ask a similar question about external HD's for back-up. Given that I'm looking for an out of the box solution, is there any consensus out there for the various Firewire HD manufacturers to go for/avoid? Or is it the same dr…

I know it's not exciting as all this Quartz stuff, and I can't tell if anything's faster than before, but my Griffin Powermate won't work anymore in Safari. Too upset to try Word etc. \ Anyone else noticed the same, or am I missing the obvious (…

Depends on what capacity and portability you want. I have the LaCie 40Gb Databank, USB2 and FW, use it to transfer files from work (PC) to home Mac to PowerBook. Silent & USB/FW powered. Perfect.

Forgot to add that I found the PC's IP address thrugh the LAN properties tab and entered that into Go/Connect to server. It looked for a couple of mins but timed out having failed to find server. Mind you, watching the LAN status on the PC re…

Thanks for the replies folks. In case the PC doesn't show up in Network then try the following. From the Finder select Go/Connect to Server. Type in smb://computername/sharedfoldername Did this, timed out and Finder hung! Another…

No kernal panic (at least not at the same time as modem hanging). Sounds like exactly the same problem as yours - mine is, I think, also triggered by sleep mode. Anyway, judging by this evening's experience, 29 mins to go to test it! Thanks…

Found the process, killed it but 'Disconnect' message didn't vanish. Having said that, I'm no Unix expert, but sat down with a book, found the process number with 'top' and ran a 'kill' command, so I reckon I did all the right moves. Intro to Un…

Yeah, tried that but no joy. Have ordered a Hermstedt USB ISDN modem - hoping to have more luck with that and maybe change ISP - are MacAce.net still on the go?
