What kind of media are you trying to use? Also, if you take a look at the Console log file that might give you more information as to why the burn is failing. Just go to your Utilities folder and launch Console. I've never had a problem using iDVD 4…

As far as I know, you should be able to use any IDE CD-RW. Where it gets complicated is if you want to add/replace a DVD-RW (Superdrive). They would have to be a certain brand to be recognized as a Superdrive (and work with iDVD). Hope this helps. …

If you're moving them from your G3 you should deauthorize that computer. That option is under the Advanced menu. Also, if you just move your iTunes folder from the G3 to the G5, you won't have to "add to library" as they will already be there, along…

Here's one, but it's not cheap: http://www.addonics.com/products/enc...e5idecsu2f.asp It will take an SATA drive and connect via either USB 2.0 or FireWire. If you don't have the SATA drive yet, you might be better off buying a regular EIDE…

Sure, USB 2.0 external hard drives work fine. I've got 4 that are both USB and firewire. (I bought the drives and then got the cases to put them in) I mostly connect via firewire, and have never had a problem with my G5. I'm not familiar with the La…

Or, you could keep the 80 gig drive, and add the 250 Gig in the second slot. The required cables are already there. Also, there are 4 plastic screws that you need to use to mount the drive. The heads of the plastic screws ride in the slots of the dr…

I went to the Digital Life Expo in New York in September, and David Pogue was there. I remember he was talking about using iMovie to create slide shows, and how iMovie doesn't do real well with still images. There were two work-arounds, but I don't …

If he wants to use the DVD in a set-top DVD Player (as opposed to watching it on his computer) he'll need software by either Pinnacle or Sonic; DVD authoring software. That will create the menus, ect, and burn the movie on a DVD. See, with a Mac tha…

The problem is the DVI display. Belkin make both a two port and a four port DVI (USB) KVM switch. I think it's also got a two port USB hub built in, so you can switch some peripherals along with your keyboard and mouse. Here's a link: http://cata…
