FYI, you don't actually have to open the Customize Toolbar sheet. If you drag a folder to the toolbar, and let it hover for a few seconds, the little plus sign will appear, and you can drag like normal.

Everyone's invited to my bar mitzvah. I don't see why these kids can't just have a thirteenth birthday party. Then again, I can't understand why preteen/teen girls do virtually anything, so...

Effects are only good if they increase productivity. Expose is good. Having windows that look like glass is bad. The desktop metaphor seems to be working pretty well. I say Apple should just continue to add in time-saving features and release so…

It might work as a trojan horse, but Apple needs to be careful about what they port. If they port too much, lots of potential switchers might just say "Well, I've got most of the stuff already, why pay for a new computer?"

Sad thing is, with all the bloat thay're adding, it will probably take such extreme capabilities to get performance comparable to XP. I don't understand why Microsoft thinks everyone is going to buy a new PC just to run a new OS. I know people w…

What If Dr. Seuss Did Technical Training Manuals? Here's an easy game to play. Here's an easy thing to say: If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port, And the bus is interrupted as a very last resort, And the address of the memory mak…

Yeah, if Apple did a "Test drive a Mac" promotion, it would win over a bunch of switchers. The two main hurtles that a switcher needs to get past are realizing that MacPC compatability is not a problem, and learning not to be afraid to mess with a c…

I'm not sure if FCE can handle vector graphics or not. However, it might just be easier to find a font in the Simpsons style and create the text directly in FCE. *EDIT* This seems like it would be a good choice.

My first instinct would be to use FCE. Put the "The Simpsons" text in one layer and put the video/image of the town on the layer below the text, and scale it so that it is small enough to be hidden by the "P". Keyframe the text so that it zooms how …

Cow's milk all the way. I probably drink WAY too much milk, but hey, all that calcium's gotta be good for me The fat, on the other hand, probably not so good.

If you really need the money, go for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't. Atlanta's traffic problem is surpassed only by New York. The majority of the people here are genuine assholes. Our air is pretty gross, but the smaug problem isn't as bad as LA's "coast…

Firstly, I bet this should have gone in the Software forum. No big deal though. Secondly, Unison by Panic is a pretty good usenet client. Give it a try. As for a server, most ISPs give you access to a usenet server (from what I've read, all usene…

The major technological hurtle is this: If OS X was ported to x86 chips, every single app would need to be recompiled. In the Linux world, this isn't a big deal, since nearly everything is open source. However, there are relatively few open source O…
