I have never had any problems with the Apple in regards to repairs, etc. Any rime I called Apple I was treated very well and their representatives were friendly and very helpful. If they didn't have an immediate fix for the problem they researched…

Go with the refurbished MBP's. The refurbished units are much more inexpensive than a new machine and they have the fu.ll standard warranty and are also eligible for Applecare. I've bought three refurbished machines (2.0 Gh 20" iMac with a 250 GB…

None at all, IMO. bought a refurb iMac 2 GHz Core Duo. Instead of the stock 512 MB RAM I got 1 GB RAM. Instead of the 128 Video RAM I got 256 MB and I got 500 GB HDD instead of stick 250 BG HDD. Everything looked brand new and has worked for ov…

I think you answered your own question. As far as I know, refurbs aren't eligible for the education discount. However, I would call Apple to find out - you might get lucky.

I haven't had any experience with refurbished MacBook Pro's, but I did get a refurbished Intel Duo Core 2.0 GHz iMac and I love it. The unit comes with the full warranty and all DVD's, manuals, etc. The only difference between a new and refurbishe…

I think Apple should resurrect Appleworks and include it with their new Macs. It may not be the greatest program around, but it would truly make the Mac work right out og the box. Apple has already made their money off of it, so they have nothing …

You might also take a look at the new MacBook Pro 17" unit. It lists at $2799 and is better than the 15" even though it costs more. You can view the specs, etc. at the Apple web site: www.apple.com.

The Bose QC headphones are great. I have an audiophile system (all Linn high end equipment) and these headphones fit right in. I also have a pair of high end electrostatic headphones and the Bose comes extremely close to matching those. I don't kn…

The G4 is gthe absolute best design ever!!! The G5 might have a smaller footprint, but it has design flaws. i.e., the "chin".

The iMac sounds like the machine for you. The 20" model is a great buy when you consider everything that comes with it. The only real suggestion I have is...make sure you get everything you want now because it will be a while before you want to sw…

You have to remember that they were comparing the new duak core processer to a single core processer. The speed differences might not be as great if they compared apples to apples instead of apples to oranges.

Safari is a problem for me. When I first sign on to my homepage on Comcast, everything is fine. However, after I view some other information and return to my home page, it displays absolutely nothing but a blank screen. If this is Apple's way of …

Neo Office/J is really slow loading. Once it is loaded, it works well. It is really a good alternative to MS Office. Its RC version is still a beta version as far as I am concerned. It needs some work, but shows promise.

Great photos. An arm like that could provide a solution to using the G5 in situations where you can control its viewing. I wonder if it can support the weight of the G5 iMac?

I might be willing to concede and say the G5 iMac is better if they could find a more "elegant" solution to how to handle the wires going to the back of the unit. Not everything can be done wirelessly. Wires are needed to connect some peripherals.…

I've used both and I feel that Apple should try using the best parts of both in their next upgrade of the iMac. The floating computer concept has the appeal of being able to fine-tune the adjustment of the monitor screen for best viewing whereas th…

I got my 17" 1.8 GHz iMac back in November and now I feel like I've been ripped off. When I ordered my unit, I added the extra RAM to bring it up to 512 MB and I added the internal AP as well as BT. The total came to over $2000 as compared to toda…

My iMac was fairly quiet until I upgraded to Tiger. Now it literally screams at me. The whine and buzz are getting to the point that I will not use this machine again! I'll use my 1.5 GHz 12" PB instead. I installed Tiger on it and it works fine…

White Rabbit, Thanks for the tip. I had forgotten all about that. I clicked on Home and the symbol appeared on my menu bar. Thanks once again.
