To the person that said sun is borrow from apple with the Dock, you are wrong. The dock type interface has been in solaris for a good long time. The dock is more a general unix thing, then an apple specific one.

Gaming on the PC will never go into freefall. Hardcore gamers especially would never switch to the Mac, becuase of 3 factors. 1. Can't assemble own system. 2. Overclocking 3. Benchmarking Most gamers built their own systems and tweak them ou…

I'm not sure... I didn't read the specs on it. I didn't know apple had an API for the iPod like that.
-
Ideally it would be better if you could plug the iPod in somewhere and controll everything from the HU. Not sure if thats the plan, but that would seem like the best idea, instead of fiddling with a little circle while driving. If I can get my steer…

You are correct in the porting aspect, which is why Microsoft uses the DirectX API for the XBox to allow developers to port games to and from the PC a bit more easy then rewriting large amounts of code.

If its a high end HU, expect around 400 to 500.

Just a point to make... it doesn't sound like its a Windows network, just a Network. Most universities (major ones atleast) do not use Windows as their primary OS for network services.

I would be willing to venture that no matter what hardware is used, it'll have Windows, it wouldn't make sense not too.

You forget the fact that the current XBox uses a cut down windows kernel. This and the fact that directx for the xbox is slightly modified. The OS that the games are being designed for is not OSX, but a Windows OS. The only reason why MS would c…

Those are workstation class systems. Workstation != High End.

Although then there is no comparison. Most high end Windows systems are built by whiteboxes or their owners. The fact is that you can't build your own Mac. Windows OEM's are not designed to be high end.

When it comes to comparing hardware cost/preformance ratio with x86 (windows) vs ppc (osx), apple will not win. I took the highest end G5 that starts at 3,000 and added a gig of RAM to it and upped the HD to 250gigs. Now that leads it to a l…

No one took advantage of anyone... Steve knew what he was doing, and so did Disney. Stop trying to blame people for taking advantage. Business is business. Just like when Apple bought the GUI and mouse from Xerox, its all business.

It's still 10 cents more expensive for me using the discount instead of edu.

Regardless of bottom line or not, unless you are selling more systems, your platform is shrinking.

I dance to alot of stuff... electronic and all. I scratch in my sets, becuase I use alot of ghettotech stuff, being from Detroit its popular here. I'm big into breakin' as well so all that hip hop influence effects me. There are times when scratchin…

I don't consider a guy that just mixes 2 records togehter a DJ. DJ'ing is an artform which is expressed by turntablist. Mix DJ's get little respect from Turntablists.... If you can mix, scratch, juggle, and remix then you are a real DJ, otherwise yo…

Gateway was a bad example... Dell is a good one. If you can sell at the prices dell can then you have a good thing, otherwise all this bottomline is worthless if they only have 3.5% marketshare.

Just to point out what was said in the elarier post about patches for XP. 10.3 is nearing its 3 service pack in like 4 months? XP has had 1, and 2 will be out in 6 months. Compared to the amount of services packs on OSX and the amount of Patches on …

It's .cda which is CD Audio. Basicly, cd's are encoded with a file format in mind, .wav is just the uncompressed version of the song on the computer. Most CD's were masted using DATs. Different file formats is just different programs.
